My good friend, and our colleague, Will Dunlop died over the weekend. In "Grieving the Only Way I Know How," I wrote a bit about what Will means, and how I am working through his death. It may be helpful for some of you, for grieving Will or anyone else. https://t.co/iDmeISpe6j
Now that the '20-21 job market is 'officially' over with the reset of the wiki, I re-ran my web-scraping code to see how badly the pandemic affected the market. The result: tenure-track job postings dropped from 769 in '19-20 to 440 in '20-'21. See graph for breakdown by area.
Ditto with empirical papers. Even if code and materials are open, please don’t make readers dig thorough all the supplemental materials just to figure out the basic details of what was going on!
@JessieSunPsych My lab has a habit of including the date because we study yearly events (e.g. bar exam, academic job market). However, always makes me nervous that a reviewer might think my data too "old".
CDC also mentioned that it's okay to call someone "buddy" or "friend" if you can't remember their name after a year of lockdown. I don't think that's getting enough attention, but I understand.
UPDATE: If you are fully vaccinated against #COVID19, you can resume activities without wearing a mask or staying 6 feet apart, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal or territorial laws, incl. local business and workplace guidance. More: https://t.co/FJMon7WlFO
The Society for Improving Psychological Science has a conference (remote of course) Tiny fees, and includes sessions non-Psychologists would love too (e.g "How to start a revolution": if you are interested in bringing "improving..." movement to your discipline)
