Good to join @CNNi this morning to discuss VP Vance’s Iran talks in Switzerland. Washington is shifting from coercion toward pragmatic engagement, but the real tests remain Lebanon, Hormuz and the nuclear file. A handshake can restart diplomacy; it can’t guarantee peace.
Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED. Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
The official signing ceremony will be on Friday, 19 June in Switzerland.
We would like to thank the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our brothers in this mediation effort, the great leadership of State of Qatar, for their support in reaching this agreement. I would also especially thank the visionary leadership of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Republic of Türkiye for their immense contributions in this regard.
With the agreement now in place, mediators will facilitate a series of meetings this week. These pre-implementation discussions will lay the foundation for the technical talks and the official signing ceremony.

Russia’s economic forum @SPIEF, often dubbed “Putin’s Davos,” is underway. But @baunov says the “mood is much murkier” than in previous years, with Ukrainian strikes near St Petersburg, sanctions pressure, and slowing growth all hanging over the forum.
Albanians have taken to the streets of Tirana to protest a plan linked to President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to build a luxury resort in protected wetlands on the Albanian coast.
Yet Albania’s PM tells me “there is no project,” dismissing the story as fake news.
'These exchanges, which we've seen a couple times now, are the sort of new normal... What's problematic is that everyone gets used to this, and there's no real pressure to get to the endgame.'

Told @IsaCNN@cnni:
Nobody should be surprised by the speed of Iran’s military recovery. We already saw indications of this during the 12-day conflict. Iran has the motivation, the technical knowledge, and, importantly, many of its strategic facilities are underground and heavily fortified. Even if the current campaign were to end today, Iran would eventually rebuild its capabilities. And if fighting resumes, Iran would still retain the ability to strike Israel and the Gulf states.
The gaps between Iran and the United States remain significant, but mediators are working intensively behind the scenes because both sides understand they want to avoid another war. President Trump still wants to exhaust the diplomatic option, but we are entering a critical moment. From his perspective, if no agreement is reached, he may feel he has little choice but to return to military action.
Israel is extremely concerned about the possibility of a U.S.-Iran agreement. Israel would prefer to maintain or renew military pressure, and it is clear that Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Trump are not fully aligned on the current approach while the White House is pursuing diplomacy. For Netanyahu, almost any agreement is problematic because it could limit Israel’s freedom of action not only now, but also in the future. That is why he is trying, as much as possible, to prevent such a deal from materializing.
