The 27th Palestinian journalist, killed by Israel in Gaza since Oct 7th was buried this morning. A microphone & press jacket was placed on top of his body. Colleagues in press jackets carried him to rest . The bravest of the brave. Rest in Power Mohammed Abu Hattab. 📷 @msalem66
When you opt for pedantry over compassion amid the loss of thousands dead civilians, when you favor intellectualism over humanity w/bombs still falling, and when the voices of armchair authors outweigh the suffering of your colleagues on the ground...how are you even a journalist?
"His entire head exploded, and his brain was out."
A Palestinian child recounted the moment Israel bombed an area in his neighborhood in the Nuseirat camp in Palestine's Gaza
@anakbabygurl oo bhie not recommended talaga if hindi mo pa naaunlock ang power of isolating yourself from the characters para lang sa mga wala nang maramdaman kakabasa (prolly me 😭)
anyway, if we’re talking about our “trauma porn book that triggers me,” mine is My Year of Rest and Relaxation. 🤪 that’s the one na walang depth for me hahahaha ayun lang!!! it’s good if y’all like it, but i don’t. 😭
“i don’t want to be spoiled” is not an excuse. you’re the one who’s going to pick up that book and read it. at the same time, no one should force you to read the book you know that’ll trigger you.
again, READING IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY 🫵 . not just this particular book, but always, always do your research first and decide if you’re in a good mental and emotional position to read them of not. i learned this after having years of reading as a hobby.
@jackbenedwards Again, I REALLY hope people won’t use this book as their pedestal that their book taste is superior because they don’t like the book. Literature is meant to be criticized. Reading is meant to start a conversation. 🥸
that is why i ALWAYS tell my friends to not read the book if they are not in their best mental and emotional situation. the book is significant to me because it’s my first quarantine read and i believe it’s still a good book naman (one of my top tbh) pero it’s an acquired taste
I think I could relate my experience to @jackbenedwards reading this book. Yet again, like what he said, not recommending to read this. It’s your responsibility as a reader. I rest my case :P
