Obama says that under the JCPOA he negotiated, "Iran had agreed not to develop nuclear weapons," and Trump pulling out of it "caused Iran to develop more nuclear capacity."

Obama questioned Trump's rationale for his war, saying we're likely worse off now:

"We’ve now fought a war, spent billions and billions of dollars, put an enormous strain on our military; a lot of people have died, and it feels like we are back where we were before we started the war, except maybe a little worse off."

Dear Joe,
I wish I could sit down with you face to face and explain why so many of us were offended by the UFC fight on the South Lawn of the White House.
For me, it had nothing to do with the UFC or who showed up for the fights. The brand you and Dana have built is a bona fide American success story. More power to you. As for the fighters, in my book, anyone brave enough to put it all on the line in the arena is remarkable to witness. Their dedication and discipline inspire me. I don’t understand anyone who can’t admire that.
And as for the people who attended, I, for one, love Shane Gillis. I think he’s hilarious and brilliant. It was a show. A once-in-a-lifetime spectacle. I can’t blame anyone for wanting to witness it firsthand.
My problem is that I believe some of our public spaces are sacred. And unlike many of the great powers that came before us, these American monuments belong to all of us. Not to whoever happens to hold power at the moment.
The White House does not belong to Donald Trump. It does not belong to any President. It belongs to the people. To treat it as Caesar treated the Colosseum is antithetical to everything our founding fathers fought for.
This is not Rome. Presidents are not emperors doling out bread and circuses for the peasants. The White House is the People’s House. This “celebration” could have happened in any stadium within a stone’s throw of the South Lawn. No one would have had an issue with it.
But that was obviously Donald Trump’s whole point. By holding the event on the South Lawn, what he was saying to the rest of us is:
“This is my house. I own it. I will do with it what I please. I’ll build a colosseum and have the gladiators fight under my gaze. I’ll tear down the East Wing. I’ll pave over the Rose Garden. I’ll cover everything in gold and marble. I’ll erase the names of all the men who came before me.”
The fights were an exhibition of imperial domination, not a celebration of our 250th anniversary as a democracy.
The White House is not Buckingham Palace. It is not the Palace of Versailles. It is not the Forbidden City of Beijing. It does not belong to an emperor, or a king, or a commissar.
The White House belongs to us. All of us. The person who sits behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office is nothing more than an honored guest. A temporary caretaker.
The President is our servant. Not our Caesar.

La cosa più bella di questa storia dell'ambasciatore italiano in Uzbekistan arrestato con l'accusa di aver venduto visti falsi ad almeno 100 cittadini russi, non è tanto il fatto che un ambasciatore, che già guadagna tra i 250 e 350 mila euro l'anno (delle nostre tasse di contribuenti), sentisse il bisogno di "arrotondare" (pare fino a 16 mila euro a pratica - fatevi voi i conti).

E' il fatto che di una storia così ghiotta, in cui ci puoi trovare di tutto, dai soldi illeciti alla corruzione ai più alti livelli dello stato, dalle infiltrazioni russe fino al traffico di immigrati illegali, sui media italiani non se ne trovi quasi traccia. Per molto meno, vedresti già la prime pagine dei giornali invocare massonerie, mafie, partiti politici, il "capitale" e complotti NATO. E, invece, no. Quando c'è la Russia di mezzo, tutto sparisce in un "blip".

Ed è questo che fa veramente paura.

It tells the story of the absence of over 20,000 children who have been torn from their homes, their families, and their identities by Putin’s criminal actions.

What you will see in this installation is not a collection of statistics. It is a testimony.
It documents the systematic abduction of Ukrainian children under a Russian state program, their detention in over 210 facilities and the organized effort to erase their identities: their names, their memories, their sense of belonging.

This is not collateral damage of war. It is a weapon of war.

Ieri, sul giornale che non riceve alcun finanziamento pubblico, proprio come tutti gli altri, a parte le cooperative vere o farlocche tipo gli Angelucci o i giornali di partito, Marco Travaglio ha sostenuto che, se diamo i soldi a quei cattivoni degli ucraini per resistere ai bravi ragazzi russi, dovremmo darli anche all’Iran per resistere agli imperialisti americani.
Ci ho fatto una battutina sui social, e alcuni amici sono arrivati a commentarmi che in fondo il parallelo era corretto.
Cercherò di spiegare perché, ovviamente per me, col cazzo che è corretto.
La Russia è una dittatura, esporta dittatura per permettere a Putin di ricostruire una URSS privatizzata. L’Ucraina, con tutti i difetti del mondo, ma se si dovesse bombardare ogni Paese che ha battaglioni di estrema destra o fascisti persino al governo, avremmo un sacco di parcheggio sia a Pisa che persino a Palazzo Madama… l’Ucraina è una democrazia. Ed è Europa. Aiutarla, significa aiutarci.
L’Iran è un regime teocratico che ha appena ammazzato circa 30.000 giovani uomini e donne che chiedevano più libertà.
Armarlo, se vogliamo appunto cadere nella puerile provocazione di Travaglio, significherebbe sostenere una dittatura teocratica. Come gli Usa recero con l'Afghanistan in funzione anti-URSS, guadagnandoci per esempio Al Qaeda. Non va a finire a bene.
E questo al netto che Trump non abbia alcuna legittimazione, che il suo imperialismo faccia schifo, e che se esistesse ancora l’Onu, o l’Europa indebolita dai vari cacicchi russi, andrebbe contrato e subito con sanzioni economiche almeno al pari delle sue.
Quindi sono due situazioni diversissime. E mischiarle in malafede può venire solo da chi aveva garantito che nessuna delle due guerre, quella russa contro l’Ucraina, e quella di Trump contro chicchessia, sarebbe mai avvenuta.
E ancora parla. E ancora ci spiega. E ancora provoca.
