@ManningBooks@ericlippert From the post image, I thought the book was out already. It's quite a good book with content you don't find elsewhere! Looking forward to the print version.
Less than two weeks left until #adventofcode ... looking forward to it, and this time my language of choice would be #clojure (such a joy to code with this one)
My son (11 year old) looked interested when I crunching some data in #elixirlang liveview (well he likes maps and weather). I had promised him before too but this time I actually taught him a little.
Was pleasantly surprised how quickly he grasped and appreciated the concepts.
I just met a person who can't tell Python from C++.
He has never written a single line of code in his life, yet he feels he can build anything he wants.
He told me point-blank:
"I challenge you to tell me something I can't build using AI."
I tried to explain, but I couldn't find the right words.
The most fascinating aspect of vibe-coding is how it has convinced so many people to believe they are better and more capable than they really are.
@ChShersh I don’t know tbh. I am fairly open minded about programming languages (as long as it’s not JS) but not sure why OCaml never appealed to me. Everytime I tried it I got put off and I don’t know why. Not that I don’t like thinking in MLs. I do like F#
@ChShersh@yegordb Okay Java and .NET have good solid ecosystem of libraries, but they too are looked down upon I have seen on some posts. Not sure how good Go ecosystem is, should be good. But most other “good ones” don’t have good enough ecosystem
@ChShersh@yegordb how come some of the non-toy languages don’t have the similar sized library ecosystem? I think better than labeling Python (or JS, which I myself mock) as a toy language, we should improve our own so that we have an alternative in stand-by while we enlist the demerits.
Brute forced for day 2 (It was fast any way so no harm). I did make a beautiful solution but had an edge case I didn't address. Will certainly get back to this one next year. Just like yesterday, #fsharp <3
