Delighted to attend @FeniksCentre’s AGM this evening at @AUGBEdinburgh. Great to hear about the support Feniks provides to Eastern European communities and achievements throughout the year.

Inspired by our research into life insurance & economic abuse, new guidance from the @pfsconf will help advisers and firms develop their understanding of economic abuse, support victim-survivors, and close down opportunities for perpetrators to cause harm. https://t.co/9V7ifViCxi
Scotland's housing system is failing women.
Today, the Housing (Scotland) Bill Stage 1 debate took place @ScotParl. The housing system in Scotland is biased & women have less access to safe, affordable homes. This is placing increasing numbers of women at risk of homelessness.
@davidmcd0nald Hi David, @FeniksCentre is a member of the CPG on Europe but we haven’t received invitations for the last few years. I thought the CPG was discontinued… Could you please check what’s our status, please?
One of our most joyous, but also most impactful projects funded through the EIJB community grants programme, is Active 50+group for the isolated Polish older people. @PilmenyDevProj has been a great partner in supporting inclusion of our seniors for years. ✨⭐️💫
We are at the City Chambers where around 50 people have gathered outside before the Edinburgh Integration Joint Board meeting which is just getting underway One of the bodies funded by the EIJB is @Cyrenians1968 We spoke to CEO Ewan Aitken
We were today in front of the @Edinburgh_CC to support colleagues giving deputations to the #EIJB Committee debating cuts to over 60 community health charities. #cutswillkill
Along with the rest of the sector we are extremely concerned by the proposed early cessation of EIJB grant funding to 64 voluntary sector organisations. As well as the loss of important services and the associated job losses, this will impact volunteering.

Tomorrow, EIJB propose cutting £7️⃣0️⃣0️⃣,0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ from the 2024/25 and 💯% of 2025/26 third sector grants programme
A really strong set of deputations, standing up for the communities of Edinburgh and those who rely on services

As the #EIJB meets today, I’m thinking of the hundreds who rely on Feniks as a lifeline. Proposed funding cuts risk leaving Edinburgh’s Polish & Eastern European communities without essential mental health and inclusion support. We can’t let these services disappear.
Feniks provides vital mental health, domestic abuse, and suicide prevention support to Polish & Eastern European residents. Proposed #EIJB cuts threaten these life-saving services, leaving vulnerable individuals isolated.
Every councillor who cares about public services has to draw a line at the unaccountable behaviour of the EIJB - a paper published at 4pm on a Friday with devastating cuts. We all know the essential services which will be lost and enough really is enough. https://t.co/9CQ01NEVrh
Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day!

The government's early release prison scheme to tackle prison overcrowding starts today. We know this is a worrying time for survivors and some will need to make new plans to guarantee their safety.

On today’s #WorldSuicidePreventionDay2024, we are proud to share our blog, published by @iThriveEdin, highlighting the high suicide rate within the Polish community. It's time to break the silence and support those in need. Together, we can make a difference. 🕊️
Today’s message from the Scottish Government's Programme for Government that a Scottish Human Rights Bill is not on the agenda nor a priority is deeply disappointing and a breach of trust.
The Bill, due to be introduced by June 2024, has been inexplicably delayed again.
