I think it is very bad that the United States did not vote for this UN resolution. Abstaining shows lack of moral clarity on our part as to who started this war and who is bombing cuties every night. We should be clearly standing for democracy, free markets and rule of law.
Ronald Reagan passed away 21 years ago today, on June 5, 2004. To commemorate his life and legacy, we revisit his inspirational farewell address from the Oval Office on January 11, 1989.
John Adams’ prayer, written to Abigail Adams in 1800, is carved above the fireplace in the White House's State Dining Room…

We were honored to be joined by Mr. Hanno Pevkur, Minister of Defense for the Republic of Estonia, at the @IRIglobal Generation Democracy's Eighth Annual Global Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania.
As democracies face challenges across the globe, “Can we afford to just hope? Definitely not,” said Minister Pevkur during a question and answer session with participants.
Minister @HPevkur stressed that “democracy's biggest vulnerability is inactivity,” especially as harmful actors silence internal dissent, enhance transnational repression, violate human rights, and continue to resort to violence.
Proactive global engagement and cross-cultural dialogue are integral to ensuring that we realize a world with responsive democracies underpinned by a flourishing civil society, not brutal autocracies ruling over a silenced citizenry.
Our Generation Democracy Network strives toward these exact goals. We thank the Minister for his engagement with our 40 participants, who represent 32 countries.
Together we are building the future’s global leaders.
IRI and @house_democracy hosted a successful exchange with parliamentary staff members from the Indonesian House of Representatives this past week in Jakarta. Over 40 staff members learned about the best practices for engaging citizens and CSOs for citizen-driven policymaking.
The men buried beneath the crosses came here “to storm these beaches for one purpose only: not to gain anything for ourselves, not to fulfill any ambitions that America had for conquest, but just to preserve freedom.”
