@chrislhayes Boston is insane. Not enough housing, but a lot of jobs. It would help to store as the jobs around the country instead of keeping them all in SF, NYC and Boston. Build housing that people can afford. Massachusetts as a whole is basically unlivable unless one is a millionaire.
@chrislhayes I believe it started with the housing bubble/ financial meltdown. Investors started buying up property and charging higher rents which have been increasing each year. Add that to the housing slow down because of COVID and higher prices for housing because of demand.
@chrislhayes Lots of great stats on rentals (and all housing issues) available from National Assoc of Realtors.

But in a nutshell, we have a nationwide housing shortage, any kind of housing. It's making prices worse, and rent worse. No matter where you live, it's rough
@chrislhayes I do. Greed. Americans are making more money, unemployment extremely low, companies see opportunity to kick out the moderate income folk and shoot for the big renters. Same thing happening housing market. They forget 2008 fiasco or don't care...
@chrislhayes Abuses of capitalism.
Here in Texas homeowners constantly harassed by speculators, banks, developers wanting to buy houses who very clearly starting to control the prices & the make up of the neighborhoods. It's a new level of
monopolizing beyond gentrification of the past.
@chrislhayes Because you have several mutli-billion dollar companies going into cities and gobbling up rental properties. They go in, kick everyone out and raise rents. With a shortage of affordable homes to buy, more are forced to rent, driving up prices. https://t.co/A37JqsMR4Q
@chrislhayes That's easy - trump dismantled the 14 day waiting period for wall street bros the buy houses.
Hedge funds buy up housing, rent at higher cost to bring in more profits & pushing up property value in that neighborhood. I have lots of links.
I sincerely hope everyone realizes that Republicans voted against things that will stop oil & gas companies from price gouging because they WANT to prolong Americans suffering because politics.
The wife of a Supreme Court justice was a central player in an attempted coup.
If you read that statement 5 years ago would you have believed it possible?
Reminder that inflation is high in EVERY advanced economy, not just in America. Blame Covid and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It has nothing to do with Biden, and anyone who says otherwise is either ignorant or lying.
Just a casual reminder that in 1861, 11 Senators and 3 Representatives were expelled from Congress for failing to recognize Lincoln’s election and supporting insurrection. — We can still do that.
Guys, the price of gas is not Biden's fault, it's Congresses for refusing to pass laws that make price gouging illegal. Take it out on the Midterms and vote Democrat.
