@MikePMoffatt History books will be written about this stuff. Birth rates are plummeting around the world. Government needs to understand that it needs to act immediately. This is a break the glass moment in time.
@danielfoch So the Ponzi scheme no longer works? I’m sure they’ll figure out a way to keep this going? Our economy only works when prices of your assets go up. Who cares if that screws over the younger people.
@Smileyyeg@BenRabidoux The banks and institutions run this country. They aren’t going to let that many people default. They will bend and change rules to keep people debt enslaved. They know if that many people default there aren’t enough Canadians able to buy at current prices.
@ManyBeenRinsed My opinion is indians are hard working people and mostly very peaceful. Without a doubt they are hungry for a better life and work way harder than natural born citizens. Only problem is they don't integrate well into Western culture because the culture divide is massive.
@MikePMoffatt We’re watching a demographic crisis happen in real time, yet the response is often to protect the financial system rather than address the root causes. When housing costs, debt, and living expenses consume people’s futures, falling birth rates are a symptom, not the disease.
@MikePMoffatt If this is the case the government needs to be honest with Canadians. let them know if you come from a family without assets and you desire a family sized home you need consider leaving Canada for a country that's achievable in.
@ronmortgageguy Nobody saw this coming! Except for basically everyone with a brain asking themselves how all these new Canadians are affording million dollar homes. Everyone basically believes they have to start “bending the rules” in order to get ahead now. High trust society is finished now.
@ManyBeenRinsed@X Don’t let that stuff get to you it’s human nature. I noticed most Indians/muslims don’t let their sons or daughter marry outside their race. When they own businesses they don’t hire Canadian born citizens. It’s just human nature man don’t sweat it.
@ManyBeenRinsed I work in an industry where I talk to a lot of truck drivers. I’ll ask them how common was the mortgage fraud and buying multiple homes etc. most of them say it was so common and that everyone did it.
@MikePMoffatt Okay, but then make sure the rewards go to people adding real value to the economy, not just people who happened to buy assets at the right time. A country can’t stay healthy if work matters less than existing ownership
@therobcampbell Are young people so broke they can’t afford a 900k house at only 4 percent interest. I remember buying my house at 18 percent interest! All jokes aside this is what happens when you price out your buyers. Prices need to come down or incomes need to double.
@PatKelly_MP@ronmortgageguy Our prime minister said in 2015 he would make housing more affordable. Our government has shown they can’t figure this out or aren’t willing to. Tell the truth to Canadians that they won’t be able to afford a home in their life time because homes are for the rich only.
@MikePMoffatt From Affordability to Asset Class: The Financialization of Urban Housing and Its Demographic Consequences
Someone eventually is going to write a phd thesis on what happened to Canada and what not to do. Nobody in government has the stomach to make the charges necessary we need.
