I saw Minecraft in the theater with my kids last night and am still processing what I saw. The only cinematic experience I can compare the audience participation to is Rocky Horror, except it’s with teenagers and their phones and the movie is not even a weekend old.
i wish we had demographic data for movie screenings because even my 10 year old minecraft-obsessed brother doesn't want to watch this movie because of how boring it looks and i feel like 80% of those earnings are from 16-20yo's watching it out of spite
I SHIT YOU NOT this was my Minecraft movie experience
-Jack Black said ”I… am Steve”
The whole theather starts clapping
-A kid in the back is explaining VERY LOUDLY to their parents how unrealistically fast they knew how to build things
-Villager gets hit by a car
Everybody claps again
-Jack Black said ”Minecraft”
Thunderous applause and screaming
-A kid explaining VERY LOUDLY AGAIN mobs to their parents
-Movie ends, standing ovation, cheering and a kid in the back yelling ”BOMBOCLAT”
2/10 movie
10/10 movie experience
Pure cinema
My theater clapped every time Jack Black name dropped a Minecraft item that was in the trailers, and when he said Chicken Jockey I shit you not the entire row in front of me gave a standing ovation
That was the wildest theater experience of my life. Most of the audience were middle schoolers and they would clap and hoot and holler whenever one of the meme lines was said or when they recognized something from the game. When Jack Black said "Chicken Jockey," the theater erupted into sheer pandemonium. Kids were cheering, clapping, and jumping onto the tops of seats. Whenever Jack Black sang, the kids would get up and start dancing in the aisles. They acted like this wasn't a movie, but a rock concert. It was a complete expression of a mix of genuine love for minecraft and irony poisoning and the result was pure chaos for 100 or so minutes.
This is probably the proper way to see this film.
strongly believe biopics should aim to cast unknown actors because it is so off putting trying to get invested in a film and getting distracted by the last years white boy of the year in a wig
It’s not fucking hard.
1. Make movies matter. 90 day theatrical window. Fuck streaming.
2. Cut prices. No ticket over $12.
3. Make more movies. Give everyone a new option every weekend.
Oh how badly I want there to be a birth control that doesn’t make you feel constantly ill/is straight up plastic in your body. I might give the depo shot a go but the lack of bleeding would freak me the fuck out and I’d end up spending all my income on pregnancy tests
Elon Musk and Marjorie Taylor Greene is seeking to defund ‘Sesame Street’ and dismantle PBS and NPR.
They claim they brainwash viewers and children with "communist" agendas and promote “anti-American” views.
