The Israeli army blew up my aunt Zeinab’s house yesterday. She is the fourth immediate family member of mine to have her house destroyed by the IDF in the past two months, ours was destroyed in April.

The IDF knew that this house had no weapons or any sort of military presence, since as can be seen on the fourth photo, they had occupied it for a few days before destroying it: we’ve obtained a subscription to a satellite service, and have been monitoring the area daily to check on our family’s homes. The house was destroyed yesterday as part of a systematic and evil process of destroying every single house in the village of Bint Jbeil.

Israel has been making my family homeless for generations. My grandparents lost their homes to them once. My mother has lost her home to them three times, and myself twice.

None of us have ever been involved in any sort of “resistance” or military action against Israel. In every case, we have been uninvolved, innocent civilians: I am a cryptographer, my mother is a retired journalist, and my father a deceased philosophy professor. My uncles and aunts are history professors and homemakers.

May the world bear witness to this.

Suleiman has a long history of serious violence and mental health problems. He had previously been admitted to psychiatric hospitals and was living in mental health supported accommodation under the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust at the time of the attacks

In 2008, Suleiman stabbed Police Constable Neil Sampson multiple times (in the head, face, and leg), requiring around 30 stitches and five months off work. He also stabbed the officer’s police dog, Anya, in the chest as she tried to protect her handler

Mental health issues can help explain violent behaviour, but they do not excuse it - whether the victims are British Jews or a British Muslim

Thankfully, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has fully acknowledged the sequence of events by charging Essa Suleiman with three counts of attempted murder - including the earlier attack on a British Muslim in Southwark that same morning

It is a genuine shame that Prime Minister Keir Starmer has ignored this first incident and focused solely on the attacks in Golders Green. By doing so, he gives the impression that the safety and security of British Muslims matter less than that of British Jews

To be clear: Everyone in this country, regardless of faith or background, deserves to live in safety and without fear. Selective outrage undermines trust and fairness for all communities

Two of Israel's prime ministers were regarded by the British government as part of terrorist gangs when they were killing British soldiers, police and civilians. One of them had earlier made overtures to the Nazis. More than 740 British people killed. All forgotten and forgiven.
