COVlD research is close to blacklisted at this point. We've had grant applications triaged (hundreds of hours of work flushed down the toilet), and others get just absolutely ludicrous reviews because you have to convince unmasked Covid-uninformed people to take Covid research seriously. NIH has Covid on their "banned word" list. A lot of people have 2019 pre-pandemic projects now coming to an end (self included). Others are gaining non-Covid research funding to keep staff from being laid off, often with the hope of adding a Covid component to the work, or getting additional funding to add on to it substantially or run separate Covid studies.
Anyway, I am aggravated by the situation too, but know a lot of researchers would like to be doing more research-wise than they are able to. It's the funders / general societal views blocking everything. Just sharing my perspective. Can't speak for others. Open to feedback.
It’s terrifying that at any moment any country in the global south can get bombed and the rest of the world won’t even blink. I can’t even imagine a city as beautiful as Tehran being bombed, yet to the West it’s just another West Asian city on fire

Hearing from several of my sources that the largest immigration detention center in the country, Camp East Montana, is now in a facility-wide quarantine due to the measles outbreak there. Visitation is suspended indefinitely.
DHS has not gotten back to me yet.
This entire thread from Prof Prather is 🔥
“Filtering indoor air should be as standard as filtering water. Full stop.”
“Most infectious diseases spread through the air we breathe. We just accept that everyone gets sick indoors. It DOESN’T have to be this way…”
A woman with Long Covid won almost one million dollars in a lawsuit against her employer who refused to allow her work from home accommodations.
May this set a precedent.
Remote work should be accessible to all who need it.
It’s a game changer for people with disabilities.
We have a big paper dropping at 23:30 GMT/6:30 PM ET. It's not about Long Covid, but I think it is one of the most important studies our team has done.
For my Long Covid community: we are working very hard, we have a pipeline of projects, and new work is coming. My team and I are committed to this and will always show up for you.
More at 6:30 ET.
Something that breaks my heart as a Millennial is how fucking optimistic and fun our teenage years and 20s were. Like we envisioned a TOTALLY different world from the one that we've got and insanely divorced from what Gen-Z are experiencing. It's hard to put in words how fantastic we thought life was gonna be and how it seemed like we were making tangible social progress. We've had all of that ripped away from us
I'm actually on a little mission to get AI off the streets of my town by offering some local businesses dirt cheap logo redesigns, while explaining why AI doesn't benefit their business.
Already got 1 in the bag. First the takeaway, then the world.
last night i yelled “the US just bombed iran” while smoking a cigarette outside of a bar in bushwick and everyone immediately checked their phones #paulrevere
Today would have been my father-in-law’s 56th birthday.
This is our first Ramadan without him.
Israel killed him on August 3, 2025.
He was a devoted father and husband and a strawberry farmer, a man who found joy in standing beside others in both their happiest and hardest moments. You could always find him at weddings and at funerals, moving quietly through the crowd, making sure everyone had food in their hands.
When we left Gaza and called him from Egypt or the United States, while Israel was starving him and our families, he would tell us, “Eat for me. Enjoy the food for me.” He said this as they survived on stale bread or wild plants gathered from the rubble of our homes.
I will never forget our time together picking strawberries, having barbecues on the rooftops of our homes, swimming in the sea, watching soccer matches, and sitting in our yards talking for hours.
May Uncle Jaleel rest in peace, and may those responsible for his death be brought to justice.
(I took this photo of Uncle Jaleel in Nov 2023 when we were staying a school shelter in Jabalia. Everything is gone now: the homes and the school)
They kept saying Hamas was hiding in schools and hospitals because they aren’t allowed to have a military. Iran has plenty of military targets. They’re just bombing schools and hospitals for the love of the game
I’m getting really fucking sick of innocent children taking the hit for the behaviour of old powerful paedophilic men. Whether it’s sexual abuse or violent wars. It has to stop.
