Such a great idea from a colleague. Interact with as many students as possible using a Friday survey! Brightens up our students’ day and ours. #connect

.@MSUMOkHee shares a message with the Class of 2020: "Be open-minded; good ideas can come from anywhere. As you progress in your careers, be persistent, be humble and care for others around you, no matter what." #MSUM2020
A3) Teaching and modeling the same discipline, accountability and teamwork as seen in other sports and allow them to challenge themselves and compete at a high level. #games4ed
When kids cheat on assignments it is because they have been taught that grades outweigh the importance of knowing things. We need to fix this.

Had a great experience challenging my 9th graders on the "Purpose of Education". They had fantastic responses! "Education is good, but school is rigged" "We should be understanding, but we're forced to memorize" and so many more! Powerful conversation #edutwitter@ChristmanSCI
Hey teachers! 👋🏾 Friendly reminder that your Black, Brown and students of color don’t need you as a savior to save them. This is a harmful train of thought and is rooted in racism. Equity isn’t swooping in and trying to rescue students. Equity is interrupting systemic racism.
A6. Principals should be challenging the equity norm that "everyone can succeed in school as it is." I think we need to be looking at how we are doing education, rather than trying to get certain populations to pass tests and score well on standardized tests. Take risks! #msum640
A5. By being a voice that advocates for the MDH guidelines and models those guidelines themselves. It's the same as any policy, if the principal says but doesn't do, it's worthless. They need to challenge students to complete rigorous courses and to learn on their own. #msum640
@hazeymath I'd argue that is still a stigma! I agree it's really hard to see the outcomes or the payoffs of it, and even harder to get funding for something like that. But, if it helps even one student feel safer or healthier or even save a life, it's worth it! #msum640
A3. Somehow, there is a still a stigma regarding mental health and SEL. It is the principals job to model how important these are by creating positions like a school therapist or social worker, and establishing the importance with staff by giving tips and tricks #msum640
A4. Physical and mental safety need to be absolutely priority number 1. Not only keeping students and staff physically safe, but establishing an environment that allows students to be who they are and have support if they need it both physically AND mentally #msum640
A2. School leaders need to be able to create a vision for a school and use the mission to get there, while they need to manage the moving pieces on a day to day scale to ensure the mission will keep running. They are not the same nor are they mutually exclusive. #msum640
