@engineering_bae I've often thought of low-priority low-complexity bugs as being a chill-but-productive break from deeper work. Those seem ideal to automate away. But I actually prefer using AI for the hard stuff. So maybe the little things can still be palette cleansers for now?
@JMackeyPG Good piece. How much do you think this is poor scouting/dealing, vs ineffective coaching/development, vs money? Holmes only thrived with NYY, but Holderman was already good with the Mets. What if you only counted WAR in remaining time under contract for $$ players like Musgrove?
@alissamarie I appreciate the "effort" argument in the piece, but in the 90's I remember having a passive sense of contemporary movies because of a ton of TV ads. Now, even the social buzz about EEAAO was mostly before it had made it to my smaller market, so it took some planning to see it.
Pretty much just lurk here, but man do I lurk *HARD*. I would definitely miss Twitter very much. I also suspect that whatever might fill the hole it may leave behind would do more to enrich my life.
RIP Mike Davis. His portrait of LA in City of Quartz was a big influence on my feelings of both skepticism and appreciation for San Francisco in the mid 2000's, and (for my part, at least) how those were expressed in SF Zero.
Sad pizza news: Guy at the counter told me Arinell Pizza on Valencia St., SF will close on Sunday, 4/17. This is the best NY-style slice in town. @eatersf
Just watching this from @KMOXKilleen over and over, nodding and mentally highlighting each sentence. Truly an example of art that could not have been made on the west coast.
@dustinmoris @leastprivilege@davidfowl Is this why we keep getting Azure Storage rewrites? V12 is a nice reorg, but now we have dependency issues either way, and frankly we’re using dotnet because I expect such core functionality to be stable.
I’m happy to report that What We Do in the Shadows is funny TV about vampires, and not the depressing but artistic drama about the dark underbelly of contemporary society that I assumed it was based solely on the title and people’s vague “it’s very good” recommendations.
@nearfuture Outages due to not paying bills on time is *extremely* on brand, though. It is/will-be back, but this is going to be a stain on Derrida Daemon's otherwise excellent performance review this year.

This is in Squirrel Hill, where just over two years ago a white gunman killed 11 in a synagogue after he went on a rant against refugees on a social media platform favored by right-wing radicals

Originally from London and living in NY, a student and UberEats driver was stopped for speeding.
Car wouldn’t start.
Cop called tow driver.
While both waited unarmed Maurice Gordon, 28, was shot multiple times by N.J. trooper.
And then handcuffed.

Today is #BreonnaTaylor's birthday. She would be 27.
In March, police killed her when they stormed her home while she was sleeping, looking for a man who did not live there.
84 days later, no officers have been charged.
