ವಾಜಪೇಯಿ ಅವರ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಇದ್ದಾಗ, ದೇಶದ ಮಾನ-ಮರ್ಯಾದೆ ಉಳಿಸ್ಬೇಕು ಅಂತ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದ ಘಟಾನುಘಟಿ ವಕೀಲ ಹರೀಶ್ ಸಾಳ್ವೆ ಅವರನ್ನ ಈ ಕೇಸ್ ವಾದ ಮಾಡೋದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ರು.ಆದ್ರೆ ಅಸಲಿ ಟ್ವಿಸ್ಟ್ ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಇರೋದು! ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್‌ನ ಪ್ರಭಾವಿ ನಾಯಕ ಪಿ. ಚಿದಂಬರಂ ಅದೇ ಎನ್ರಾನ್ ಕಂಪನಿ ಪರ ನಿಂತು ಭಾರತದ ವಿರುದ್ಧನೇ ಕೇಸ್ ನಡೆಸಿದರು!

2004ರಲ್ಲಿ ಯುಪಿಎ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಬಂತು, ಚಿದಂಬರಂ ಹಣಕಾಸು ಮಂತ್ರಿಯೂ ಆದ್ರು. ಮಂತ್ರಿಯಾದ್ಮೇಲೆ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಎನ್ರಾನ್ ಪರ ನಿಲ್ಲೋಕೆ ಆಗ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ರೂ ಒಳಗೊಳಗೇ ಕಂಪನಿಗೆ ಅನುಕೂಲ ಆಗೋ ತರಾನೇ ಲೀಗಲ್ ಐಡಿಯಾಗಳ್ನ ಕೊಡ್ತಾ ಇದ್ರು ಅನ್ನೋ ಮಾತು ಬಂತು.

ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೇ ಮುಗಿಲಿಲ್ಲ ಇವರ ಸಾಹಸ! ಯುಪಿಎ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಏನ್ ಮಾಡ್ತು ಗೊತ್ತಾ? ದೇಶದ ಪರ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಹರೀಶ್ ಸಾಳ್ವೆ ಅವರನ್ನ ಕೇಸ್‌ನಿಂದ ಎತ್ತಂಗಡಿ ಮಾಡ್ತು. ಅವರ ಜಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾರನ್ನ ಕರ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದ್ರು? ಲಂಡನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿರೋ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನ ಮೂಲದ ಖಾವರ್ ಖುರೇಷಿ ಅನ್ನೋ ಲಾಯರ್‌ನ! ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದ ನೂರಾರು ಕೋಟಿ ತೆರಿಗೆ ಹಣದ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಇದ್ದಾಗ, ಪಾಕ್ ನಂಟಿರೋ ಒಬ್ಬ ವಿದೇಶಿ ಲಾಯರ್ ಕೈಗೆ ಇಡೀ ಕೇಸ್ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸ್ತಾರೆ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಎಂತೆಂಥಾ ಅದ್ಭುತ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ನೋಡಿ!
ಕೇಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಪರ ಎಷ್ಟೇ ಬಲವಾದ ವಾದಗಳಿದ್ರೂ, ಇಂಥಾ ಕಳ್ಳಾಟಗಳು ನಡೆದ ಮೇಲೆ ರಿಸಲ್ಟ್ ಇನ್ನೇನ್ ಬರಕ್ ಸಾಧ್ಯ? ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಂತೇ ಭಾರತ ಕೇಸ್ ಸೋತು ಕೈಚಲ್ಲಿತು.

ಎನ್ರಾನ್ ದಿವಾಳಿ ಆದ್ಮೇಲೆ, ಅದರ ಶೇರ್ ತಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಬೆಕ್ಟೆಲ್ ಮತ್ತೆ ಜಿಇ ಕಂಪನಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಬರೋಬ್ಬರಿ 800 ಮಿಲಿಯನ್ ಡಾಲರ್ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಡ್ತು! ಸಾಲದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಆ ಖುರೇಷಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಕೋಟಿ ಕೋಟಿ ಲಾಯರ್ ಫೀಸ್ ಬೇರೆ. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಇದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದು ಯಾರ ತಲೆ ಮೇಲೆ? ಇದೇ ದೇಶದ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ತೆರಿಗೆದಾರರ ಬೆನ್ನಿನ ಮೇಲೆ!

ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ವ್ಯಂಗ್ಯ ಅಂದ್ರೆ, ಮುಂದೆ ಇದೇ ಖಾವರ್ ಖುರೇಷಿ ಕುಲಭೂಷಣ್ ಜಾಧವ್ ಕೇಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಕೋರ್ಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನದ ಪರವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತು ಭಾರತದ ವಿರುದ್ಧವೇ ಕತ್ತಿ ಮಸಿದ. ಆದ್ರೆ ಅವತ್ತು ಭಾರತದ ಪರ ಕಣಕ್ಕಿಳಿದು, ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನವನ್ನ ಮಣ್ಣು ಮುಕ್ಕಿಸಿ ಜಾಧವ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಗಲ್ಲು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದು ಯಾರು ಗೊತ್ತಾ? ಮತ್ತೆ ಅದೇ ಹರೀಶ್ ಸಾಳ್ವೆ! ಅದೂ ದೇಶಪ್ರೇಮದಿಂದ ಬರೀ 1 ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಫೀಸ್ ತಗೊಂಡು!
ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಗಳಂತೂ ಈ ಕಥೆಯನ್ನ ಆರಾಮಾಗಿ ಮರೆಮಾಚಿಬಿಟ್ವು. ಆದ್ರೆ ಯುಪಿಎ ಆಡಳಿತದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶದ ಹಿತಕ್ಕಿಂತ ವಿದೇಶಿ ಕಂಪನಿಗಳ ಹಿತವೇ ಹೇಗೆ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು ಅನ್ನೋದಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ದಾಭೋಲ್ ಹಗರಣಕ್ಕಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಬೇಕಾ? ಅಧಿಕಾರದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರು ಮಾಡಿದ ಮಹಾನ್ ಎಡವಟ್ಟುಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆಲೆ ತೆತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಮಾತ್ರ ನಾವೇ—ಈ ದೇಶದ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನ!
