@glbaumann The median voter has no idea how much of anything there is. Ask them to put a number on something and you’ll realize real quick why online discourse is so frustrating
@lucystone1871@drrajeshraina They assimilated, but the important question is how long that took and how that compares to other groups. I’d say in the past, assimilation took longer but was more thorough when it did happen compared to now
@JoePaulGians Welfare’s a valid point but I really doubt people on an H1B are getting much of it. As for proving oneself, the modern world is a kinder place than the past. Where do you want immigrants to pay that blood price?
@hkarthik UC schools have a lot of Asians. Sure race might be a barrier if you’re not black or Hispanic but “out of reach” is definitely an exaggeration
@ObviousRises In saying that the Western point of view should matter to Indians and Pakistanis when they talk about each other, you do the exact thing you criticize in this post. Why on earth would either party care that you see them the same?
