I understand the pain, and I don’t deny the deep scars left by the policies and leadership. Many Nigerians went through real trauma, and no one should downplay that.

But, here’s my stance, as a Christian, my response to the death of any person, wicked or not, must reflect the heart of Christ. It’s not about being politically correct. It’s about being spiritually consistent.

In Mount Zion movies, people rejoice when divine intervention saves them from impending danger. Sometimes, that intervention results in the death of the wicked. The celebration isn’t necessarily because the wicked died, but because they themselves have been delivered

My concern is rooted in the heart of evangelism. I wasn’t just addressing Nigerians, but believers. We preach about a God who transforms even the worst of sinners, like Paul, who once persecuted the Church. Yet, to hear believers say things like “I wish he died sooner” or “May he rot in hell” is deeply un-Christlike.

This isn’t about excusing evil, it’s right to remember and even mourn the harm done. But what should distinguish us from unbelievers is our spiritual perspective. We should grieve over lost souls, not gloat over their destruction. That’s the spirit of Christ.

You’re right, love and truth aren’t mutually exclusive. We must speak truth, but we must also not lose the posture of compassion for a soul, even toward those who hurt us. That’s what separates us from the world. That’s what Christ did.
