UPDATE: Late last night, after over 17 hours under detention, Fazir Mayanja was charged with 'Computer Misuse' and released on bond by the Aviation Police at the airport.

My brother Erias Lukwago, Today is your day.

I hope you will be reminded today, of how appreciated and respected you are.

On behalf of my household and on my own behalf, we wish you very happy birthday.
Today morning, we were pleased to host members of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Uganda at our premises in Makerere-Kavule. We discussed various matters of interest to our nation and the region.
Upon returning to the country this morning, I proceeded with the team to Luzira Women's Prison where we checked on our dear sister and comrade Olivia Lutaaya who has been under detention for more than two years. Even after all this time under illegal detention without trial, Olivia has remained strong. She continues to protest against her detention on the orders of a military court. She was encouraged to know that many people are speaking out against her predicament and calling for her release, and the release of all other political prisoners.

As we celebrate Labour Day, it is important to recognize and honor the hard work and contributions of the resilient, unsung heroes in the informal sector. These men and women, including taxi drivers, boda boda riders, porters, domestic servants, market workers and small-scale farmers, among others, play a vital role in sustaining the Ugandan economy.
Although they contribute to more than 50 per cent of our economy and are responsible for more than 80 per cent of employment, their labor is often not rewarded as much as it should be. They are the backbone of our society, working tirelessly day in and day out to provide for themselves and their families, and to support their communities. They face countless challenges and obstacles, from long hours to difficult working conditions, yet they remain steadfast and dedicated to their craft.
It is through their perseverance and hard work that our economy continues to thrive, and it is our duty to ensure that they are given the respect and support they deserve. Let us take this Labour Day as an opportunity to thank these unsung heroes and to recommit ourselves to working towards a future where every worker is valued and rewarded fairly for their contributions.
To all our brothers and sisters in the informal sector, we salute you and thank you for your unwavering commitment and dedication to our nation. Happy Labour Day!
Zimbabwe’s biggest reggae Zim-dancehall artist, @winkydonline said that he was warned NOT to play his new song, IBOTSO which talks about the rampant corruption in Zimbabwe and the suffering of Zimbabwean people due to corrupt rule.

Zimbabwean hospitals have collapsed because of corruption with the whole country not having a single working radiotherapy cancer treatment machine!
Winky D said that the authorities should allow artists to express themselves.
“They want to arrest the music, they must leave the music to flow like water in the river,” Winky D said last night in Bulawayo.
It was such an honour to interact with the students and and faculty at the Ralph J Centre for African and International studies at Howard University in Washington DC.
We discussed the state of affairs in Africa in general and Uganda in particular. Am glad that our message has crossed frontiers and is resonating with all people, young and old, across the globe.
My message to them was to hold their government accountable through their elected leaders in Congress to revisit their relationship with dictatorial regimes on the continent.

The Chairperson, Uganda Human Rights Commission now says she fears to convene meetings of the Commission because her juniors attend them with guns! Perhaps this explains the ridiculous statements she has been making of recent about victims of human rights violations. Perhaps it also confirms the reports we got that while announcing the 2021 presidential results, Byabakama was literally on gun point, with 'armed commandos' right behind him!
Like I said before, every day that Gen. Museveni spends in power, the crisis continues to grow. The impunity spreads further, and the criminality grows. We are on our own - ALL OF US. A time must come when we rise up collectively and put an end to this madness.

The Police have rounded up our female MPs outside Parliament’s main gate as they marched towards Ministry of Internal Affairs in protest agst the brutality of security agencies.
We strongly condemn the unjustified violence and indignity that Uganda's security agencies have meted out on Women Members of Parliament today morning as they peacefully protested against being harassed by police and the military when doing their work.
It is this brutality that continues to stain our conscience as a country! If even MPs have no freedom of speech & assembly, who does?! #WeAreRemovingaDictator #FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners #Labisa
This video explains the health worker deployment challenges facing our public health facilities. Please spare some time to watch it. #UgandaHealthExhibition#Labisa
