Let me start with a simple question. You earn ₹1 lakh sitting in your hometown. Then, in the race to earn more, you fly to another country, spend five days there and return with ₹13,000. Success or failure? Don’t answer yet. Keep it for the end.

Failed His First Statesman Test Before He Even Left the Airport

Vijay was given special airport entry, but his adviser Vishnu Reddy was not allowed through the same gate due to security protocol. So Vijay refused the facility too. Airport authorities then had to arrange the emergency-use D9 gate and deploy extra police to manage the crowd.

Sweet loyalty to your adviser, Sir. But you are not travelling for a film shoot anymore. You are the Chief Minister. Protocol exists for a reason.

The Pookie Moment ❤️

Then came September 12. One of the first pictures to break the internet was Vijay with Ajith at Le Mans. Pookie Moment achieved. ❤️

The funny part? Ajith, who holds no constitutional post, was asking the crowd to stay calm and disciplined so people in the West would respect us. Meanwhile, our Honourable CM was on the balcony doing his usual cinematic gestures and getting the crowd even more excited.

For a few seconds, I genuinely forgot which one was still the actor and which one was the statesman.

Finally, the Investment

Monday arrived. Photos arrived. Handshakes arrived. Files arrived. Finally, the MoUs arrived too: around ₹15,300 crore in investment commitments.

Very good, Sir. 👏

But one small doubt. Tamil Nadu is already an industrial powerhouse attracting huge investments. After taking the CM, officials and security all the way to London for five days, ₹15,300 crore in commitments is the number we are celebrating?

Actor Meet or CM Meet?

Then came the London “meet”. Actors have fan meets. Chief Ministers abroad usually have organised diaspora meetings with professionals, businesspeople and community leaders. But why do something so boring when you can recreate a Vijay-style crowd scene outside a hotel?

Eventually, the gathering was cancelled over safety concerns. Well, at least somebody in another country finally explained that rules are not optional.

Now remember my first question. I won’t answer it.

You are intelligent people. You decide.

One small request: next time Vijay wants a Pookie Moment with his former co-star, please arrange it in Chennai.

Tamil Nadu taxpayers will happily sponsor the convoy’s petrol. Still much cheaper.

Today, the company has signed a MoU with the Maha govt for an investment of ₹27,000 crore.

ஒரு ஜனநாயக நாட்டில் அரசியல் தலைவர்கள், மக்கள் பிரதிநிதிகள் மட்டுமல்ல; கலைஞர்கள், எழுத்தாளர்கள், ஊடகவியலாளர்கள், மாணவர்கள், பொதுமக்கள் என அனைவருக்கும் கருத்து தெரிவிக்கும் உரிமை உண்டு. அந்தக் கருத்து நமக்குப் பிடிக்காமல் இருக்கலாம். அதனை மறுத்துப் பேசலாம்; எதிர்வாதம் செய்யலாம். ஆனால், கூட்டமாகச் சென்று தனிநபரை வசைபாடுவதும், மிரட்டுவதும், அவதூறு செய்வதும் ஜனநாயக அரசியல் பண்பல்ல.

அரசியலுக்கு வந்த பிறகு பாராட்டுகளை மட்டும் எதிர்பார்க்க முடியாது. விமர்சனங்களையும் கேள்விகளையும் எதிர்கொண்டே ஆக வேண்டும். அதிகாரம் என்பது விமர்சனத்திலிருந்து பாதுகாக்கும் கவசம் அல்ல; விமர்சனங்களுக்குப் பதில் சொல்ல வேண்டிய பொறுப்பு.

எனவே, தம்பி விஜய் சேதுபதியின் பொதுவான கருத்தை, தங்கள் மீதான விமர்சனம் என தவறாகப் பொருள்கொண்டு அவரை இழிவுபடுத்துவதையும், வசைபாடுவதையும், தனிப்பட்ட தாக்குதலுக்கு உள்ளாக்குவதையும் தொடர்புடையவர்கள் உடனடியாக நிறுத்திக்கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

This video should be shown to those who said Chennai doesn't need a 2nd Airport. The state values industrialisation. The past & even current CM takes investments seriously. He's already on trips trying to bring investments. An airport today is more than just flying. Chennai is India's manufacturing powerhouse. We are India's biggest electronics hub and most of it is exported via air. If this is the case at the congested airport where we barely have any space for loading/unloading into trucks, very few cargo bays and other infra, firms will start looking towards Bengaluru or Noida which has far better airport. Foxconn chose Bengaluru for this reason. Reverse your decision on Parandur @CMOTamilnadu sir 🙏🙏 @Keerthana4VNR
