Sorry not sorry, but s1 e4 of "the idol" solidified exactly what I had been suspecting:

I believe "the idol" is a sharp & creative show. It takes a crit lit lens & a slow burn to get there. Too many have been perceiving the show in a way that is reductive and willfully obtuse!
