@buttonslives My brother had panic attacks on his way to high school everyday so eventually my parents just took him out of school under the guise of homeschooling. Never happened. He's 30, no GED, job, or anything, and he still lives with my mom and has 0 responsibilities. It's depressing.
@LarryJones Maybe once but it was just before covid was officially announced so I'm not sure. I had a really awful flu and my body felt miserable. Probably the worst flu I ever had. Still went to work though.
Also looking at pictures of me when I was a 88 lb teenager and just shaking my head at the fact that my bf at the time would call me fat and I actually believed him.
@muheediva01 Being a caregiver for people with dementia π Loved and hated it but I did it for years. It's hard not to get attached to the people you take care of.
@DavidEdgington Ugh my mom pretty much did this when I was a kid. I don't even remember what my parents were fighting about but I remember stressing out because my mom would threaten to get out of the car. She never did but she would open/start to open the door and she always started the fights.
@HazelAppleyard Yeah that's screwed up. As a teen I found out tmi about what was going on with my parents that I lost respect for my dad for putting up with my mom and for my mom for doing what she did. They eventually remarried and we have better relationships now but it took a while...
@TiffaniMarie483 Sertraline is not fun. My work forced me to stay home for about a month during covid so I decided to do something with that month and I cold turkey'd sertraline and adderall. 100% would not recommend doing it that way, but I haven't been on them since π
@HazelAppleyard The whole trans toddler thing blows my mind because yesterday my toddler told me a chair monster is going to the moon to pick up "his friend Gengar" (yes the Pokemon) from the gas station. Like I don't think someone with that kind of imagination should be choosing their gender.
@WonderWomaNinja I do this too but will make exceptions and get something every once in a while. I've always been like that though. Grew up with parents that fought about money a lot so I'm kind of a penny pincher but I like to buy stuff for my husband and kids. So I just buy less for me π
@MasterNumber Ugh that is just depressing to see... I knew we had made the right decision with our pediatrician because when I told her we weren't vaccinating she said "oh okay, good" and that was the end of the conversation.
@meatypepper Just don't be like my mom who watched Sailor Moon with me but then picked out yuri and ecchi anime for me to watch because she thought I would find them funny/cute. Pretty sure anime made me bi as a teen lol. Also my mom was the anime fan first... not sure what she was thinking.
@janesue821 I would pack snacks but he'd end up eating junk. I appreciate my in laws and they're great with him so I just try to keep in mind some things are fine in moderation I guess. Funnily enough though he decided on his own he doesn't like Disney movies π 2/2
@janesue821 I used to be pretty paranoid with my toddler. I still kinda am but I tried to ease up with my in laws. I told them - no GMOs. No Disney movies with dead parents. I originally said no Disney at all but my MIL is a Disney fanatic. Apparently my rules are too hard to follow π« 1/2
@g4ys0n I love anime but I kinda agree. As a kid my parents did not vet the anime I watched which meant I watched a lot of inappropriate stuff at a young age. At the very least I am definitely stewarding which anime my kids watch and making sure it doesn't become their whole personality.
Long story short the biggest thing that has helped is letting my toddler be involved in my work. He loves it and I can give him simple things to do that don't disturb what I'm doing.
I'm technically a stay at home mom now but I also have a small online business. It took me about a month to figure out a schedule that works with a 4 mo and 3 yo where I can do my work but also make sure all their needs are met but I finally did it. This might work after all π₯Ή
