#Houdini
not sure what I made this week but it looks like a danger noodle couch. started with a curve drawing concept saved in my hip files from a while back and this result was a bit unexpected ๐๐๏ธ
also major credits to @richczhou and @kazijawad_ for helping me solve this mind boggler - I started studying design to escape the maths but it looks like trigonometry has caught up to me in the end. here's some of our kitchen table process from back in the fall ๐งโ๐ณ
original idea is based on a concept called dubins path, a method to connect points using the shortest curves an object would need to travel. mix that math with houdini's extrusions/vdb tools and you get some interesting looking furniture
hi! back from quite the hiatus. took some time to straighten priorities with college back in person, work, and life but I think I've gotten the balance (somewhat) down again. more 3d explorations to come :))
bonus: method to import marvelous designer geo into houdini + automatically "keep" the sewing lines with them. code is a bit hacky but works to create the weld group for vellum sims if you need - just make sure you export from md as "thin" garment
in the meantime, some mask rnd from the past weeks. can really never go wrong with vellum (and ty to @PaulEsteves28 for making videos that make learning it so much easier. new documentation is such a life saver)
