This tweet by @PTI_News and responses thereto is FINEST example of how media fuels a false narrative and that is then used by folks to settle scores or vent their anger.

That news was written meant to create an impression that dome Doon Defence College building has collapsed.

Dehradun, owing to IMA, is synonymous with defence and so people are naturally reacting that even def buildings are not safe.

Fact- This building is allegedly owned by Neeraj Bansal’s DAAS college and it was leased out to a training institute recently- the institute is a pvt one and as mentioned in PTI tweet.

More facts:

1. As I said This building is allegedly owned by Neeraj Bansal- a Doon rags to richest story. I have seen him ride a Hero Honda sleek in mid 80s when he and his elder brother took a small contract for laying of sever line in Hathi Barkala estate.
2. Later, he alongwith his brother in law started DAAS college running grad courses for universities that mushroomed in mid 90s and this building was constructed for that. He was client of the CA firm owned by a late friend.
3. The building was closed coz of some incident that took place there several years ago. It remained closed for many years.
4. Bansal is domicile of Ukd and a legal owner of the land. Yes construction is close to river bed and must have flouted norms but it is not new- must be from 2004-05 times.

Once u read these facts, then read the thread again and compare reactions. This is precisely how media game plays out.

Not defending Bansal here as if one will start enforcing norms retrospectively, majority of the towns on river banks will have to be brought down.
