Another notorious terrorist leader, Sani Wala Burki, has been eliminated in a coordinated operation in Katsina.
In a significant triumph against terrorism, Sani Wala Burki, a notorious terrorist leader who has instilled fear in the Safana and Batsari Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Katsina State, has been neutralized.
Burki and a number of his associates were eliminated by security personnel during a collaborative effort involving local vigilantes and the Katsina Community Watch Corps (CWC).
Last night, Burki and his faction launched another assault aimed at innocent civilians in Safana. In reaction to this, the vigilante groups organized a collective defense and were able to effectively confront the armed group.
NIGERIAN ARMY TROOPS BURST TERRORIST STRONG HOLDS, RESCUE KIDNAPPED STUDENTS
In aggressive offensive operations against terrorism and insurgency, Nigerian Army troops have obliterated yet another terrorist stronghold, successfully rescuing kidnapped students,and seizing a significant cache of arms and ammunition. Troops also eliminated some insurgents, while some others were captured alive.
On 12 September 2024, acting on reliable intelligence, troops stationed in Kaduna State launched a highly coordinated operation aimed at rescuing abducted persons from violent extremist camps. Engaging in an intense firefight at Chigbolu village, Kachia Local Government Area, the troops overpowered the terrorists, forcing them to flee and abandoning their captives. A thorough sweep of the area led to the rescue of 13 victims, comprising 6 males and 7 females, as well as the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, 87 rounds of 7.63mm ammunition, 4 magazines, a locally fabricated rifle and the sum of ₦192,220.00. Additionally, 5 solar panels, 5 mobile phones, dry rations, and clothing items were recovered. The rescued victims have been promptly evacuated to 1 Division Medical Services and Hospital for medical attention.
In another decisive operation, troops in Kachia Local Government Area have intercepted two notorious terrorist logistics suppliers, Mallam Usman Waikili and Salisu Idris, at Kagarko village. The troops confiscated the sum of ₦1,306,700.00, three SIM cards, 2 mobile phones, 3 national identity cards, 8 ATM cards, 2 Moniepoint POS machines, an MTN MiFi and other items from the suspects.
In a separate operation in Suleja, Niger State, troops stormed a terrorist hideout, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire. The troops' overwhelming firepower led to the neutralization of 3 terrorists, while 3 others, identified as Mallam Halalu, Mallam Suleiman, and Mr. Musa, were captured alive. The suspects led the troops to a hidden armoury, where 3 AK-47 rifles, 121 rounds of 7.62mm (special)ammunition, and the sum of ₦4,079,000.00 were recovered.
These decisive operations, which culminated in the rescue of abducted persons and the dismantling of terrorist networks, reaffirm the Nigerian Army’s unwavering resolve to eliminate banditry and terrorism, marking a significant victory in the ongoing fight for peace and security across the nation.
The Chief of Army Staff has commended the troops and urged them to sustain the tempo of the offensives across all theatres.
The Federal Government has declared Monday, 16th September 2024 as a public holiday to mark the Islamic festival of Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Fed. Govt. Commiserates With Yobe Govt. Over Mafa Attack
A high-powered federal government delegation today paid a sympathy visit, and commiserated with the Yobe state government over the recent insurgency attack on Mafa community.
The Minister of Finance Mr. Wale Edun, who led the delegation, said they were in the state to convey the message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the government and people of the state.
He said security to lives and property remains a top most priority of the Bola Tinubu administration.
The Minister assured that the government is working to revamp the economy, and attract local and foreign investors to create job opportunities for Nigerians.
The National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, who was also on the entourage assured that, the end of terrorism and Banditry in Nigeria is getting much closer.
He commended the army and other security organizations for their efforts in checking terrorism in the Northeast and other crimes across the country.
"The security agencies have been so wonderful, making a lot of sacrifices to safeguard lives and property in the country.
"What we are now seeing is the beginning of the end, it is just a matter of time, the entire country will be secured" the NSA assured.
Gov. Buni expressed appreciation for the visit, saying, "the government and people of Yobe state have by this visit been given a sense of belonging".
He commended President Tinubu "for providing leadership for the country at a very difficult time".
The Governor assured the support of the government and people of Yobe state to the federal government to achieve its developmental goals.

Gombe State Govt. Donates N50m To Victims of Attack/Flood
Gombe State Government has donated Fifty Million Naira to Yobe state government in support of its efforts to provide succor to victims of the Mafa insurgency attack, and the flooding across the state.
Gombe State Deputy Governor, Mr Manesiah Daniel Jatau, who represented Governor Inuwa Yahaya, described the attack on the community as sad and unfortunate.
"We share with you the double tragedy of the attack on the community and the floods that claimed some lives, swept away houses and farmlands" he said.
Yahaya said the donation of N50m was to support the state government in providing assistance to the victims.
Governor Mai Mala Buni CON commended Gombe state government for standing with the government and people of Yobe state at such trying moment.
"I am highly delighted with this show of sympathy and brotherhood exhibited to us by the government of Gombe state, we will continue to cherish this support, care and visit" Buni said.
He said security challenges is a global phenomenon which required collective efforts to check the menace.

Ganduje Leads APC National Working Committee On Condolence Visit To Yobe State
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, were today in Damaturu to commiserate with the government and people of Yobe state over the unfortunate attack on Mafa village by Boko Haram insurgents.
Dr Ganduje said the NWC was in the state to identify with the government and people of the state at this trying moment of callous attack and senseless killing of innocent people.
"We are part of the Yobe family, we feel the pain and sorrow suffered by the government and people of Yobe state, and we are here to condole with our brothers and sisters over this very sad incident" Ganduje said.
The Chairman called on the government and security agencies to strengthen the existing synergy to effectively fight the menace.
He consoled the families of the victims, expressing optimism that the state would soon come out of it by the special grace of God.
Governor Buni commended the NCW for identifying with the government and people of the state over the sad and unfortunate incident.
"This visit gives us a sense of belonging, we feel cared for by the party and the leadership.
"On behalf of the government and good people of Yobe state, l thank you and appreciate you for coming" Gov. Buni said.
He assured the cooperation of his administration for improved synergy with the security agencies.
The Governor so assured support of the state government to army, police, other security organizations, and the vigilante group to beef up security across the state.

Yobe Security Council Adopt Measures For Improved Security
The Yobe State Security Council today reviewed the security situation in the state to further strengthen security in all communities across the state.
The meeting which was chaired by His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, discussed extensively on increased surveillance along the borders to curb incursions into the state, as witnessed some few weeks ago.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security matters, Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), said new operational measures have been adopted to enhance security across the state.
"His Excellency the Executive Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni visited the Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and they had very extensive meeting on reinforcement and measures to boost security in the state.
"There are further plans to meet with the other service chiefs to deepen the discussions on the additional measures to improve security in the state" he said.
The meeting also endorsed a joint operation by security agencies to clear possible Improvised Explosive Devices in Mafa community before the people are allowed to go back.
According to the Adviser, the council charged the security agencies to hasten the clearance operation, and to provide adequate security for the people to harvest their farms.
