Trump’s latest James Talarico conspiracy just collapsed.
He and MAGA claimed Paxton's opponent was secretly in a psych facility in Ohio. The hospital said he “has never received treatment” there. In fact, Talarico has never even been to Ohio.
He had the flu, then showed up at Austin City Lights and a Kacey Musgraves show.
Still, Elon Musk amplified the lie.
Paxton’s camp played along.
This is what they do when they have nothing, know they are losing, and are desperate AF.
sheen /ʃiːn/
a soft, smooth, gentle brightness or luster on a surface caused by reflected light.
from Proto-Germanic skauniz "conspicuous/beautiful", Proto-Indo-European (s)kewh₁- "to see/perceive".
related to German schön "beautiful" and Dutch schoon "clean/beautiful".
palliative /ˈpaliətɪv/
a treatment, drug, or action that relieves pain, distress, or the severity of a problem without curing the underlying cause.
from Latin palliare "to cloak" or "to mask".
mensch /mɛn(t)ʃ/
Yiddish
1. a person.
2. figuratively a person of honor, integrity, and deep moral responsibility.
from Yiddish mentsh "human being", which traces back to Middle High German and Old High German mennisco “human”.
There is NO justification ever, under ANY moral code or international law, for one country to purposely destroy entire villages of another country, let alone during a "ceasefire." These are barbaric war crimes, streamed to the world.
Energy. This crisis has its roots in the Middle East. Everyone understands that perfectly well. Everyone knows how to do the math. If Russia accounts for 2.2% of global diesel supplies, what impact can it have on the price? That’s how negligible it is.
And if we don’t give Putin opportunities, his influence in other areas will be just as negligible. He is simply taking advantage of the fact that others want dialogue with him, even though there is no equality and no fairness in it. Ukraine is simply showing that it is a normal, independent country that is ready to negotiate. But Ukraine will not disgrace itself.

An important bit of immigration law relevant here; Section 212(k) of the INA already creates a waiver by which immigrants who obtain status through fraud that they didn't know about can avoid consequences like losing a green card.
So this is *even weaker* than it already seems.
NEW: President Trump’s incoming White House press secretary echoed the debunked pizzagate conspiracy theory, accused Hollywood elites of being pedophilic cannibals, and said Michelle Obama had a penis in posts, reposts, and deleted tweets. (And more)

Did cutting off US military and economic assistance "soften" Putin's position?
Did denying Ukraine any chance of NATO membership "soften" Putin's position?
These guys have no clue about how Putin thinks.
They are way over their heads. And Ukrainians and US national interests lose out because of their amateurish ways.
Today, we will adopt nearly 1,600 new sanctions listings targeting Russia’s military-industrial complex.
This will be the single largest expansion of our sanctions list since Russia started its war.
We also welcome the energy ceasefire, when it holds.
But we haven't seen yet if Russia will stick to it.

There is, writes @davidfrum, an "implicit quid pro quo in these lucrative deals offered to Trump’s family and friends: If you compel Ukraine to surrender, we will enrich you beyond reckoning"

Today, there was a statement from the President of the United States that an energy ceasefire has been secured. This is good news for everyone – and it is important that it become reality.
Unfortunately, Ukrainian skies have been infested with Russian “shaheds” all day today. There have been glide bomb strikes and strikes on our energy infrastructure too. A power plant in Kharkiv was attacked this evening.
Overall, this past week alone, the Russians have carried out more than 200 strikes on our electricity generation and transmission facilities in Ukraine, and another 17 strikes this week targeted gas and oil facilities. They have killed more than 150 of our people, and more than 700 people have been wounded.
Ukraine has proposed many de-escalatory steps. Putin had one answer to all of them – “nyet.” We do hope that he will finally say something to America, Ukraine, and the entire world that will lead to a real and dignified peace.
Ukraine wants peace. The question is whether Russia does. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have received all the appropriate orders. We are awaiting clear details of the dialogue between America and Russia – and we expect Putin to follow through on what President Trump said.
