The expansion of the reed belt poses a threat to #lakeneusiedl: reeds evaporate significantly more water than other plants. Thus, the lake needs even more water or precipitation than it already does. The many reeds are also a challenge for ships & boats.

It is not easy to remove the many reeds: the aquatic plant may not be burned down due to the #CleaAirAct. But there are considerations to put the power #plantback into operation and to produce #biomass with it.
