i am so sick and tired of everyone treating katseye, illit, le sserafim and every other hybe group like they personally ruined the music industry and hating them under the guise of hating the company.

at this point people aren’t even criticizing these groups anymore, they’re just looking for a reason to hate them. every performance, every chart achievement, every comeback, every random clip gets picked apart under a microscope.

you don’t have to stan them, you don’t even have to like their music but the way some of y’all act like these girls are villains for simply existing is genuinely ridiculous. the outrage is so forced that it stops being criticism and just becomes a hate campaign.

it’s especially weird because the people receiving the heat are always the idols themselves instead of the executives making the decisions everyone claims to be mad at.

오늘은 어쩌면 조금 무거운 얘기가 될 수도 있는데, 저의 사소한 부분까지도 사이들과 함께 나누고 싶다는 마음을 알아주시면서 들어주시면 감사하겠습니다. 우선 저는 어렸을 때부터 꿈이 가수였고, 입사를 해서 늘 4-5시간을 김해에서 혼자 버스를 타고 중학교 3학년때부터 왔다 갔다 하며 부모님 손을 떠나서 17살때부터 혼자 서울에 올라와서 살기 시작했었어요. 연습생 친구들이랑 숙소 생활도 하고. 아무것도 몰랐던 저인데.

학창시절의 절반을 바쳐서 그렇게 투어스로 데뷔했는데, 사실 데뷔 이후의 삶은 제가 늘 꿈꿔왔던 이상적이고 환상적인 것과는 거리가 멀었어요. 정말 정반대였는데. 저는 사실 춤 노래만을 정말 열심히 하고 무대를 있는 그대로 즐기면 될 줄 알았는데, 정작 마주한 현실은 매 순간 1분 1초 나라는 사람을 증명해내야하고, 그렇지 않으면 자존감이 낮아지는 순간들도 있더라고요. 바로 옆에 있는 멤버들도 너무 잘하고, 매력도 많은 선후배 아티스트 분들 사이에서 어떻게 나를 계속 어필해 나가야 할까 정말 고민을 많이 했었는데. 사실 이거에 대한 해답은 아직도 찾지 못했어요.

그럼에도 저를 있는 그대로. '투어스 영재'이기 전에 '사람 최영재'로 봐주시고, 또 존재도 몰랐던 우리 사이와 투어스가 서로의 일상속에 녹아들어서 서로가 살아가는 이유가 되어주고 어쩔때 보면 나보다도 나를 더 잘 아는 사이들을 볼때마다 어쩌면 한 번도 대면하지 못한 사이일 수도 있는데, 어떻게 나를 나보다 더 잘 알지? 하는 신기한 생각이 들더라고요. 그래서 한 번도 만나진 못했지만 그걸 넘어서 마음이 연결되어 있다는게 뭔지 알게 해준 우리 사이한테 늘 너무 고마워요.

사이가 있었기 때문에 내가 조금 못나보이고 내가 조금 부족하고 자신감이 없어질때도 이렇게 많은 분들이 저를 바라봐주고 뒤에서 응원해주는 사람들이 있다는 이유만으로도 저는 늘 일어설 수 있거든요. 아무리 내가 부족하다는 생각이 들어도. 그래서 앞으로도 우리 사이가 절 이렇게 이끌어주는 만큼 저도 사이를 믿고 더 열심히 성장할 수 있는 존재로 늘 최선을 다해서 하루하루를 살아가도록 하겠습니다.

🐶: before being TWS Youngjae, i was also an ordinary person, just a human being Choi Youngjae. i’m a person with lots of flaws that 42 didn’t know, and there’re sides of myself that i didn’t want to show. but thanks to 42, i think i have been able to look at those sides of myself - my immaturity, my flaws, and my imperfections just the way they are, to the fullest extent. and that has made me think “ah this is me, this is a part of me, this is also my true self”. and to become a better person, or at least to become a better person to 42, i think i’ll really need to try harder and harder 🤍
