Anyone recognize this cheeky #seabird caught by a Maker Buoy cam one of @miniboats vessels north of #TurksandCaicos? We do have an opening for a first mate. ๐
@miniboats @Name_That_Bird @Team_eBird Taken this morning, almost a week later, 75NM north, and it's still hanging around. Now we really have to start charging rent!
@Name_That_Bird @miniboats Thanks. This photo a few hrs later shows the profile. One description says they "habitually rest on flotsam at sea", but calling @miniboats flotsam is not cool!
@srchwng@IridiumComm These were all triggered manually, without knowing the content. These images are being used to train an ML model (using @EdgeImpulse) to identify fish vs no-fish. Have not yet deployed that capability yet.
Sharing this time-lapse from one of our camera-equipped Maker Buoys with @IridiumComm backhaul. Deployed in late Sept '22 off Ocean City, MD USA and now halfway to Europe. At these latitudes, in the Gulf Stream, we see biofouling starting around month 3. Enjoy the fish pics!
Shout out to @GCSatellite who's been the Maker Buoy @IridiumComm provider since we started in 2018. They recently highlighted Maker Buoys on their homepage: https://t.co/73QXUUc8lc
@BooneWieter @ARC_AU Happy to be providing these remote imaging units using the same hardware that goes into the Maker Buoys. Good illustration of the flexibility of our mainboard and reliability of @Adafruit, @Sparkfun and @Pololu components.
Maker Buoy is branching out on social media, so please follow us on #Facebook and #Instagram.

Hope to see you here, there, and anywhere we can share the adventures of our Maker Buoy fleet.
@EdgeImpulse After 7 weeks at sea, starting to accumulate some biofouling, but also captured another nice #fish photo today. Estimate it's about 1m under the buoy.
