At a time when more than 4 in 10 young South Africans are unemployed, and with the Teachers’ Assistant Programme being defunded, resulting in over 200,000 opportunities being removed — the state of youth employment is becoming hard to ignore.
That is why we are launching the #PEPs4Youth campaign, where we are calling for a ring-fenced, multi-year Public Employment Programmes budget that guarantees at least 1 million opportunities for young people each year.
