if you’re ever lying awake, restless and unable to sleep, don’t let irritation get to you. give thanks to Allah. that restlessness is a mercy, an invitation to qiyam al-layl. even if it’s only for a moment, use it. let your worship fill the night before sleep returns, إن شاء الله
yesterday, I told professor Lumbard, that I have been experiencing a spiritual decline and kind of losing interest in many aspects of life. His advice:
1. Go to sleep at 9 p.m.
2. Make sure recite surat al-Mulk before bed.
3. exercise is really important for someone working in academia.
4. do tahajjud as I can. all you can do is a 20 minute before subuh.
5. after prayer subuh, do dzikir, read surat al-Waqiah, and do morning walks.
I thank God for having a great professor and a supervisor like him. very humble. very down to earth. one of the greatest blessings in my life to be his student. It is not a matter of transactional relationships, but it is about a batin relationship between a teacher and a student. may Allah always protect him and his family. may Allah always bless him in every step of his career and journey. alhamdulillah.
Don’t worry, you’ll get married when Allah wills, for His decree never comes late nor early.
Marriage is an act of worship and it carries countless responsibilities, so we must strive to become adequate spouses and parents who fear Allah and seek His pleasure in every step.
I turn 37 today and if there’s one lesson I’ve learned during all these years, it’s that in the end, there’s no one but Allah for you. Once you accept this, the rest starts falling into place by itself.
I have this innate belief that I'm going to win at everything I set my mind to (if I stay disciplined)
God is good, the sky is blue and what can't you achieve with focus and discipline
Not me shocked that I didn’t have to tip while at a restaurant in the UK 😂
*I haven’t eaten out in the UK since coming back from Canada where tipping is the norm 😬
For those seeking a spouse, don't just pray for a good partner. Instead, focus your prayers on these three things:
1. Oh Allah, make me a good partner.
2. Grant me a spouse who is kind and virtuous.
3. Bless me with a marriage into a righteous family.
I'm not sure who needs to hear this today, but remember: you are more than your mistakes, and Allah's mercy is far greater than your sins. Don't ever fall into hopelessness.
