@HastingsDirect thank you to Hastings Direct for charging me a £20 admin fee for cancelling my new policy within the 14 day cooling off period. All I wanted to do was change the start date! I’ll never use Hastings again!
@HastingsDirect I took this policy out online 2 days ago. I didn’t deal with a single human. There’s nothing clear about your fees. Your customer service is rubbish and I wish I’d read the reviews beforehand. I feel like I’ve had a lucky escape! I’ll be telling everyone I know not to use you.
@plasterapplier1 My interview for my NQP paramedic job was based around a scenario where bad news had to be broken. Don’t recall any practical on it at Uni. I did do some research on SPIKES and NURSE for an assignment around EOL and I’ve done further CPD since. I’ve had a fair few too :-/
@statto95@peers_lewis@nqpcharlie That’s good - relieved you’re not mentoring a uni student para. Your attitude towards uni entry paras is appalling and wrong. You do state ‘all’ uni students in one of your comments. Clearly your opinions are deeply set.. since 2019.. so absolutely ages on the road.
@statto95@peers_lewis@nqpcharlie David - do you mind if I ask what year you qualified as a paramedic? And how long you have been a qualified clinician on the road?
@statto95@nqpcharlie During our degrees, we completed 2,000 hrs on the road. Admittedly, the dynamic is different when there’s 3 in the crew. Like Charlie, I worked in a pt facing role prior to my degree and a CFR and then bank ECA.. I still understand what Charlie means. It’s another learning curve.
@nqpcharlie I feel you! On relief you can end up working with so many different ECA’s! As you know, I worked as a bank ECA alongside the final 2 years of uni. If you’re working with an ECA for the first time, have a chat at the beginning of the shift. It gets easier.
@NJL_Blancq Glad you got it sorted! We were given accommodation while on our inductions and it was actually very decent so I was surprised yours was less so.
@FinalFantAerith I am a very new NQP but I have already been to quite a few EOL calls and I will always do everything I can to keep the patient at home (if this is manageable for the patient and the family). They are lengthy and sometimes complex jobs if things aren’t in place, but so rewarding.
