The €55m French-backed facility is to fund the Oyo State Healthcare Initiative Project. The approved plan includes modular hospitals, a Cardiac Centre, Emergency and Maternity Centres, Operating Theatres, ICUs, 39 ambulances, 10 dental centres and 200 Primary Healthcare Centres, including facilities in Igboora, Ogbomoso, Oyo, Moniya, Kisi, Iseyin, Okeho and Eruwa.

So where is the evidence that this facility is being diverted into “election-season political projects”?

There is nothing wrong with demanding transparency. But an allegation of diversion should not be presented as a fact without evidence.

Governor Seyi Makinde needs to understand one simple thing: €55 million is not campaign money. It is a loan Oyo people will repay. Since the French facility was secured for healthcare development, then every euro should go into healthcare.

Not election-season political projects.
Not cosmetic renovations.
Not inflated contracts.
Not hurried procurements designed to create political visibility.

The troubling part is the timing.

With 2027 approaching and the administration gradually entering its final stretch, there are legitimate questions about why such a massive facility should suddenly be subjected to a “swift spending” agenda.

Seyi omo Makinde, don't mortgage the future of Oyo for the politics of today.

Let the public see the loan terms.
Let us know the hospitals benefiting.
Let us know the contractors.
Let us know what each project costs.
Let procurement be transparent.
Let implementation be independently monitored.

Oyo doesn't need another collection of abandoned projects with giant billboards announcing achievements. We need functional hospitals, doctors, nurses, medicines, diagnostic equipment and healthcare facilities that will still be serving Oyo people long after the 2027 elections are over.

The €55 million belongs to the people of Oyo State.
Don't divert it. Don't politicise it. Don't waste it.
