@DadInFW The best solution that I’ve seen is to offer seniors a partial tax exemption but have a residency requirement and means test it.
My county has no guardrails and we have people who are still working buying $600k+ homes at 65 to take advantage of the exemption

@colonelkurtz99 It really depends on which facility and if they have family nearby that visit regularly. Most of the nicer places go by assisted living that have levels of care. If you can afford a nice one and have family nearby that visit, it can be great.

@bobbyfijan Since so many comments seem to be about funding public education despite no longer having kids in school, fine. You are exempt from property taxes. But, you can’t use 911 since you no longer fund it.
I’ve never seen so many ambulances as in my parent’s boomer neighborhood

@iamcardib @CelebLoveBardi I just listed a few things on Poshmark and had friends asking me if everything was ok. I had to reassure them that I’m fine and I just wasn’t using the items anymore. Selling something doesn’t mean you are broke, it could just be purging and organizing.
People need to myob!
