Why do we keep ignoring simple systems that could quietly weaken the hands of kidnáppers and bandîts?
The cashless policy introduced during President Buhari’s administration wasn’t just about banking, it was about tracking money flow, reducing anonymity, and making large cash movements harder to hide. In a country where kidnappers and bandits rely heavily on untraceable cash for ransoms, a stronger cashless system directly shrinks their freedom to operate. When money becomes traceable, crime becomes riskier.
If properly strengthened, through better mobile payments, biometric verification, and tighter limits on large cash withdrawals, it could cut off the “safe space” críminals use for ransom collection and logistics. It’s not a silver bullet, but combined with intelligence and real policing, it’s a powerful, quiet wéapon.
So the real question is; Are we improving the systems we already have, or are we quietly letting them fade while insecurity keeps growing?
May the Almighty grant our leaders the wisdom to build systems that protect lives, not just react after they are lost. Ameen.
What do you think, should we strengthen cashless systems more aggressively?
In less than 72hrs, the former minister of power’s sister & sons are rescued by the police.
It’s almost a week today since the kidnapping of school Children, but they’re nowhere to be found.
Priorities!
@SadiqMaunde This is exactly why people keep raising concerns, speed and urgency shouldn’t depend on who is involved. Every life deserves the same level of response and priority.
@khalil_skyman It’s getting harder to ignore, and treating it like routine news only normalizes the crisis. At some point, urgency has to replace numbness.
This is heartbreaking because when even a retired Army General can be kidnapped on a Nigerian highway, what hope is left for ordinary citizens?
Bandits have just released a video of Major General Rabe Abubakar (rtd) and his wife, abducted on the Matazu highway in Katsina. A man who once defended this nation and understood security from the inside, now reduced to another victim in captivity. This is no longer just “news" This is a terrifying warning that insecurity has reached the highest levels.
If those trained to protect us are no longer safe on our roads, then farmers, students, traders, and everyday Nigerians are living in constant fear. We cannot normalize this. A country where highways have become hunting grounds is crying out for urgent action, accountability, and real leadership.
How many more painful reminders do we need before insecurity is treated as a true national emergency?
May God protect every innocent soul traveling on Nigerian roads, grant swift safety to those still in captivity, and give our leaders the courage to act decisively Ameen.
What will it take for us to finally demand better?

Alhamdulillah for the priceless gift of life, good health, peace of mind and blessings that money cannot buy. Every new day is a reminder of Allah’s mercy and countless favors upon us.
May this weekend bring happiness, barakah, protection, and success to us all. Wishing everyone a peaceful and joyful weekend.
Sometimes I wonder how a country so rich in talent, resources, and potential can leave so many of its people struggling just to survive.
We are not asking for miracles. We are asking for security, opportunities, stable electricity, quality education, and leaders who genuinely care.
Nigeria deserves better.
