Let me give a clear example of the impact of hallway healthcare - I am asked routinely to examine patients with groin and geniturinary problems in hallway stretchers. It is wrong. Thank you MPP Dr. Lennox for standing up for regular Ontarians. @RobinLennox
This whole Billy Bishop expansion is being driven by an American bank that won't even disclose its role in the lobbying campaign. Doug Ford is destroying Toronto's waterfront to help out American bankers at our expense.
Doug Ford’s corruption continues as his friends keep getting richer off the backs of Ontario taxpayers.
Ford’s friend Carmine Nigro sat at his daughter’s wedding table and has since been appointed by Ford’s government to chair the Ontario Place Corporation and the LCBO, and sit on the board of Invest Ontario.
Now, Nigro’s company sought a $500 million settlement from Metrolinx over “air rights” and Ford refuses to answer how much his friend got. #onpoli

🚨 Breaking 🚨
JP Morgan hired lobbyists to lobby the Ford Conservatives & federal Liberals to expand Billy Bishop... and they may have broken the rules governing lobbyists.

Doug Ford promised to stand up to American threats.
Now he's letting a JP Morgan-connected company expand Billy Bishop and destroy Toronto's waterfront.
This is a betrayal.
The Health Minister is either ignorant or lying - and neither option is acceptable.
She has personally overseen the expansion of private surgeries and private primary care in Ontario while claiming two-tier health care doesn't exist.
Instead of fixing the staffing crisis and investing in public health care, this government keeps pushing privatization and hoping nobody notices.
Ontarians aren't buying it. #onpoli

Dr. Gorfinkel writes a master Op-Ed on how not to govern. Premier Ford's "public-health policies share a recurring thread - out of sight, out of mind. These are not accidents, but deliberate attempts to push health crises out of public view. @DrGorfinkel

Ontarians are pretty “ticked off” too, @fordnation. You’ve wasted our money for 8 long years. This isn’t a one off.
- $100 billion tunnel
- $500M parking lot next to a private spa
- $1 billion to get booze into corner stores a year early
- 100s of millions on propaganda ads
Just to name a few… #onpoli
Parking lot medicine. Did that last night. Dr. Milne and I have a serious concern about ER overcrowding. It's due to inadequate hospital bed capacity. Combine that with unacceptable public drug use and homelessness and it's true, ER doctors like me will be in the parking lot.
It’s sad but some of my best years was seeing ER patients in hallway beds. Chair medicine is now the new reality. I saw a patient in a hospital courtyard last night. Premier Ford has wholly abandoned his promise to end hallway healthcare. @RobinLennox
Guess where @PaulCalandra & his staffers are right now? NOT in Ontario, NOT in Canada but in London England for their 2nd trip in less than 6 months.
I receive patients from Toronto paramedics everyday and I admire their skill, courage, caring and professionalism. The affection and gratitude they get from patients and families is remarkable. They are the best. @416medics
Ontario police can apparently use spyware powerful enough to remotely take over smartphones and they’re fighting to keep the details secret from the public.
Meanwhile, Doug Ford weakened Ontario’s Freedom of Information system, making it harder for journalists and citizens to get transparency from government.
So ordinary people are expected to live under increasing surveillance, but when it comes to political power, backroom deals, deleted records, Greenbelt scandals, private meetings, and government accountability, suddenly everything is “confidential.”
If these extraordinary powers exist, where is the oversight? Where is the transparency? And why does accountability seem to apply more to citizens than to politicians?
Doug Ford said returning his luxury jet wouldn’t cost Ontario taxpayers anything. He lied.
Turns out taxpayers got stuck with a nearly $200,000 bill just to return it.
Meanwhile, people can’t afford groceries, mortgage/rent, or get health care.
Priorities. #onpoli
I'm fine with white-glove profiteer medicine once we have a fully functional publicly funded healthcare system. Until then, profiteers across Canada including and especially provincial governments are cannibalizing our healthcare system for the wealthy few. We see you.
Ontario bring a will, a tent & Crazy Town: The Rob Ford Story as Sylvia Jones increased wait times to be admitted to a hospital:
➡️29 hours in 2020-21
➡️44 hours in 2024-25 while Ontarians pay 3× for knee repair at Don Mills for-profit surgery $4,037 vs $1,273 public hospital.
It's time to be honest. Hallway medicine is here to stay. It's not going anywhere. The new threat is chair medicine. Ending chair medicine needs to be the new goalpost. We have patients in extremis from pain going emergently to the OR - put and kept in a chair. 👇👇👇
The truth is the Ontario Ford government has done some positive changes. Under Dr. Philpott there is progress being made on family medicine teams. Ontario rolled out the RSV vaccine. Ontario is building more hospital beds (but grossly missing the target), building more CT/MRI machines and refurbishing hospitals.
But ER overcrowding due to a lack of hospital beds is where we are not only making no progress, but we are falling further behind. When there are no available hospital beds, the problem backs into the ER. We can't make space for new patients.
When there are no beds, it doesn't matter that I tell the nurses "please, this patient really needs a bed" - because the nurses have nothing to work with.
All the healthcare in the world is no good when you are having a medical or surgical emergency and you are in extremis and we put you in a chair. Without exaggeration, this is what I witness.
So I'm calling on a new goalpost. We're not going to get rid of hallway medicine. Heck, Ontario isn't even tracking it anymore because it looks bad. But let's at least now try to get rid of chair medicine.
Ontario doesn’t need to “wait until the next election” to speak up.
People are angry for a reason.
Doug Ford’s Ontario has become a province of scandals, secrecy, privatization, and broken public trust.
The Greenbelt scandal. The Ontario Place/Therme spa deal. The Science Centre fiasco. The private jet controversy. The RCMP investigation.
And now attacks on transparency itself.
This government weakened public access to information and transparency protections, making it harder for journalists and the public to hold politicians accountable. Democracy depends on openness not secrecy.
Meanwhile:
🏥 Public health care is being privatized while ERs close and hallway medicine worsens. 📚 Public education is overcrowded and underfunded. 🏠 Housing is unaffordable while homelessness explodes. 💊 ODSP recipients are being left in poverty. 👩⚕️ Nurses, teachers, and frontline workers are burned out and ignored. 🛣 Developers and insiders keep getting special treatment.
Ontario deserves leadership that puts people before political insiders, developers, and backroom deals.
Enough is enough.
