Great article with practical suggestions by @gillblack8@SLF_RSA about the need for developing a COVID-19 community engagement mobile app in South Africa: https://t.co/d7qmsPhI0a. @OfferZen, something your community might want to look into as part of your Unlockdown initiative?
Priorities have been set to address COVID-19 in South Africa. A dedicated effort to engage marginalized communities in the disease and its prevention is absent. There is an urgency to fill this gap through mobile intervention. The time is now. Read on... https://t.co/wTYZLFqzNh

@MukelaniSD @TshepoMadlingo1 I agree with Prof Madlingozi as well Mukelani. A lockdown may not work, but it's our only option. I argue for it in these two articles: https://t.co/YnoJJblheZ & https://t.co/YmtgMBh87H. We need to lobby Pres @CyrilRamaphosa to declare this. We have no time! #lockDownSouthAfrica
@ruru_bopape @Ntsundu_ @pozcandy completely agree with #lockDownSouthAfrica. Let's lobby Pres @CyrilRamaphosa to announce this today. There is no guarantee that a lockdown will work, but we need to try. The message needs to go out and fast! https://t.co/YnoJJblheZ #Covid_19SA
Once the virus has reached our informal settlements, where social distancing is difficult to maintain and access to water is limited, the systemic risks to South Africa's short and long term future is unimaginable. cc @justicemalala@JakkieCilliers@pierredevos@ivorprice
South Africa is simply not prepared to handle a wide-scale outbreak of the virus and its impact on lives and livelihoods. Our entire health system (public and private) will collapse within weeks if we do not change course immediately. The risks to our supply chains are immense.
Within 2 weeks, UK confirmed cases of COVID-19 jumped from 206 to 5,018. When the UK had 1,950 confirmed cases it was estimated that up to 55,000 people contracted the virus already. This is an urgent plea for an immediate national lockdown:

.@CyrilRamaphosa Please take us in your confidence and declare a state of emergency with immediate effect. This is your defining moment. Do not be afraid to fail. I call on each and every South African to lobby President Ramaphosa to do this: https://t.co/YmtgMAZwJ7 #Covid_19SA
Today I am participating in a walkabout of the #Govtech2019 exhibition hall stands. I'm happy to see the room filled with young and innovative SMMEs. @sitasocltd@CommsZA@DtpsZA
In 2015 I facilitated a photovoice project with street photographers in Ivory Park, to reflect on the meaning of 'street life'. A former colleague @malanjacobs has examined this project as part of his MA studies. See his blog: https://t.co/Jkrnn4YtfT
Could you please let me know if you'd like me to proceed? We could call it a draft with no expectation of use. I would relish the opportunity to give back in my area despite living and working abroad. I'm passionate about South Africa and its progress. Please send me! 4/4
Dear Min @tito_mboweni. Regarding this: https://t.co/88r5nADo7I. Sorry to hear you were expecting a better response. Any chance that the consultation deadline will be extended? If so, I'm happy to set up an online consultation for you and help spread the word (free of charge) 1/4
I was also part of the @converlens team who built a digital consultation tool used by @pmc_gov_au for its Independent Review of the Australian Public Service. I've studied Economics and Public Management and am currently doing a part-time MA in Communication for Development. 3/4
