Could you ask your Labour colleagues who sent their kids to independent schools, why they did so. Could you ask the others, who can afford to avoid sink State schools by buying expensive homes near good state schools, why they did so.
Could you ask yourself why no other European country taxes education.
And could you then give your head a rattle: parents who elect to pay tens of thousands of pounds to educate their kids shouldn’t be demonised, but celebrated. They save the State the trouble of educating their kids, while still paying taxes as if the State was picking up the tab. Your vindictive VAT rise has closed more than 100 private schools, some centuries old. There is nothing noble about your self-justifying ideological vandalism.

UK trade data for 2025 published yesterday. We now have 10 years of data since the EU ref & 5 since we left the customs union.

Remember the OBR forecast Brexit would reduce UK trade by 15% (hence their forecast of a 4% hit to productivity).

The sheer mendacity of Labour is breathtaking. Rather than accept they made mistakes Labour are trying to gaslight the public and rewrite history on the Supreme Court judgement.

Keir Starmer swallowed trans ideology whole and was ready to open up women’s spaces to biological men. Anas Sarwar even whipped his MSPs to support the SNP’s bonkers self-identification bill.

As recently as June last year Bridget Phillipson said men could use female toilets. Yesterday, she forced neutral civil servants in a government department to tweet a demonstrable lie. It is a total disgrace.

Phillipson boasted to the unions that she scrapped the common sense guidance I published for schools last year on gender questioning children. If she wants to do something useful she can reinstate the guidance and show she actually cares about the safety of children and the rights of women and girls.

@JolyonMaugham It’s not a precondition. The Court can take it into account during the course of Proceedings as following it is what “the Court would normally expect”. But, what would you actually know about a “misuse of the law” other than it being your de rigueur?
