I always preferred Alien to Aliens, however after listening to the audiobook, Alien: River of pain, I appreciate the story of Aliens more. Also, I feel this is James Cameron at some of his best. Coupled with the writing, music, and Giger influence. It really is a great film.

The attention to detail, Ripley in her panic calls for both lifts, which later comes down, and the Queen gets in one!

If only Ripley knew that throwing the belt of grenades, would dislodge the Queen allowing her to get free!

The queen gives Ripley and Newt a pass, and as they are walking backwards, an egg opens and Ripley sprays her flamethrower. Was the egg opening the Queen saying "I'm going to get you", or was the Queen actually going to let them go? Ripley has this look of "Nice try!"

Then again, the only sound is the visceral sounds of the queen laying eggs, and then onto the breathing of the queen. Then on to a single bass note as the queen is revealed. Fuck it's so good!

I love when Ripley is looking for newt, there's no music, just sound effects. Then, when Ripley gets on top of the tracking device, just a hint of music of despair. Newt screams and every musical swell on earth is introduced.
