No, I did not leave the aircon running 24/7.
My Meralco bill came in at ₱9,791.78. So let me break it down because nobody else will.

Generation charge alone is ₱5,266.66. That’s 54% of my entire bill. Meralco’s actual cut? ₱1,730.98. And that number hasn’t moved since 2022. What keeps going up is everything sitting on top of it.

Here’s what’s actually eating your money:

System Loss — ₱486.83
You are paying for stolen electricity. Illegal connections, meter tampering, jumpers. Republic Act 7832 lets Meralco pass the cost of electricity theft straight to paying customers.

Universal Charges — ₱201.96
Part of this goes toward paying off the National Power Corporation’s debts. Old debts. From decisions made before most of us were even working.

Government Taxes — ₱989.81
The 12% VAT is not just on what you consumed. It’s stacked on top of every other charge, including the subsidies you’re already paying for. So yes, you are paying tax on stolen electricity. Tax on an old government debt. Tax on a subsidy you do not even benefit from.

FiT-All and GEA-All — ₱149.59 combined
Two separate renewable energy levies running at the same time. The second one was quietly added to bills in February 2026. Both government-mandated. Neither one is optional.

FYI..none of this is illegal. It’s all backed by law. But legal and fair are not the same thing.

The middle class does not steal electricity. We do not qualify for lifeline rates. We do not get 4Ps. We just pay full VAT, fund everyone else’s discounts, and absorb costs that should never have been ours to begin with. Every month. Without relief.

What actually needs to change:
1. Reform the generation charge. One line item cannot be more than half your bill and go unchallenged.
2. Stop passing system loss to consumers. Other countries make the utility absorb it. We should demand the same.
3. Move faster on renewables. Lower generation costs long-term. That transition is already overdue.

Today, a concerned citizen shared with me a heartbreaking video from East Avenue Medical Center. Under the scorching heat, she waited over four hours just to access free medicine through the Yakap program. The lines were long, the process slow, and the suffering visible—especially among our seniors and persons with disabilities.

This is not an isolated case. This is the daily reality in many government hospitals.

We must speak truth to power:

• The Department of Health under Secretary Herbosa has failed to deliver dignified, efficient, and compassionate care.
• PhilHealth is being defunded while case rates for top killer diseases remain dangerously low.
• Ghost hospitals and alleged corruption continue to plague our system.
• The poor are left to endure misery while officials remain silent or dismissive.

This is not just incompetence—it is a betrayal of public trust.

We call on the President, lawmakers, and health advocates to act now:

• Streamline access to essential services in OPDs nationwide.
• Increase funding for PhilHealth and raise case rates for heart disease, cancer, stroke, pneumonia, and diabetes.
• Remove VAT on essential medications.
• Investigate and prosecute corruption in the health sector.
• Restore dignity to every Filipino seeking care.

Healthcare is not a privilege. It is a right. And when that right is denied, we must raise our voices—not just as doctors, but as citizens.

Let this message be heard. Let this video be seen. Let this injustice be corrected.

In this clip from the Ridglan Farms open rescue on March 15, 2026, a sheriff’s deputy appears to gesture toward her firearm while confronting rescuers carrying a beagle. What follows is even more disturbing.

This terrified puppy was dragged from the back of a rescue van by police and returned to Ridglan Farms, despite a judicial order indicating this beagle was a victim of criminal abuse. At any moment, they could face further suffering in an experiment or surgical procedure.

These actions raise serious legal and ethical concerns. Even if authorities considered this beagle “property” in a theft case, law enforcement is required to preserve potential evidence of a crime. Returning this beagle to the very place where abuse is alleged to have occurred raises urgent questions that demand accountability.

As difficult as it is to watch this moment, there is another side to the story. While attention was focused here, other rescuers were able to leave the property with beagles who made it to safety.

This unnamed beagle’s moment became a turning point. In a very real way, their apprehension created a critical distraction, allowing other vans carrying beagles to reach freedom.

We need public pressure now.

Contact the Dane County District Attorney and Sheriff and urge them to return this beagle and the other seven who were apprehended to rescuers or an appropriate rescue organization.

You can say:

“Dogs facing criminal abuse at Ridglan Farms were illegally seized by police from rescuers and returned to their abusers. Do the right thing and rescue the dogs!”
