I have lived in Chandigarh my whole life, specifically Sector 4. It was really a jungle back in the 1950's when my grandfather moved here after partition. There used to be a rivulet flowing through which was diverted leaving its eroded path which became a long park. The park was fairly junky for most of my life and in the latter years become a haven for gamblers and finding used needles was not uncommon. Certain residents took up the issue and took on the task to beautify it. A putting green type garden was put up and build professionally. It was open for the public 24 x 7. Due to this beautification coming in the press, which was termed as "elitist", and allegedly some residents complaining, the @MCChandigarh in its wisdom came today and destroyed the whole park - for what? no idea! To reduce it back to a junk yard I assume. This is the side of our country which is unfortunate and doesn't work on logic! I repeat, it was open 24x7 for the public, no fences no restrictions! Pics before and after (still ongoing the digging). #Chandigarh #sector4
