Today’s rains show that TVK Government’s rain preparedness remains on reels.

TVK expected lame toolkit excuses :

- DMK spent ₹4,000 crores on storm water drains which don’t work;
- Local body under DMK;
- Officials support DMK.

Truth is, the storm water drains DMK built worked fine during its term. They haven’t been de-silted and unclogged properly under the TVK government.

The GCC’ hands are being tied by restricting funds. Even councillors’ development funds were released very late.

Chennai is not prepared for the monsoon because of TVK’s incompetence.

Atlast - Central and South Chennai all clear / Drizzles. North Chennai still raining but would stop in 15-30 minutes.

The clouds from south moved up now via central Chennai, Rains would reduce in North Chennai in another 30 mins, It is still raining there.

After this no more intense clouds in Central and South Chennai. Drizzles would continue for a while.

These are insane rainrate which one will see in life. Kathivakkam has got 260 mm. Of which, 148 mm fell in an hour. I have never seen such rain rates in Chennai. Areas close to sea are pounded.

The clouds have covered south Chennai too, entire Chennai should be getting rains now.

I honestly don’t know what to say! The intense rain clouds over South Chennai are slowly shifting northwards, moving towards Central Chennai and then North Chennai once again.

Areas that have already experienced heavy rainfall could be in for another spell. Rain intensity appears to be increasing again over parts of Central and North Chennai that have already been battered by heavy rains.

This could worsen the situation in already waterlogged areas. Residents in low-lying areas should remain alert, avoid waterlogged roads and take necessary precautions as the rain continues.
