All of these behaviors are exhibited in nature too. Does that make them ok?

@TBYSTweet But I came here to learn the language so I always respond in Japanese. They eventually switch back to Japanese. I have had to be persistent with a few store clerks though because they insisted on continuing in English. Some want to practice their foreign language skills too 😊

@TBYSTweet I’ve lived in Tokyo for a little over a year now and have found that it depends on where you go. In the more touristy areas, yes I have found locals especially in stores try to speak English to you.

@YonkoGames @JoyBoyTheories The Southern Strategy is real, but it wasn’t a clean flip where the parties just switched identities overnight. It was a gradual shift in voter coalitions over decades. That’s exactly why applying today’s “left/right” labels to the 1800s doesn’t really work.

The party that led abolition was the Repblicans in the 1860s, but calling them ‘left’ doesn’t really make sense in today’s terms. ‘left = freedom’ idea falls apart once you look at history closely.
