🇰🇷They cited her health as the reason, yet refused home-based care.
Where does judicial judgment end, and pressure on the organization begin?
Dr. Han Hak-ja’s bail was granted.
She may live only at the hospital. Returning home is forbidden.
Contact is limited to medical staff, lawyers, and caregivers. She is 83, uses a wheelchair, and cannot take her medicine alone.
She asked to live at home while receiving treatment. That request was denied.
The court granted bail citing her health, the progress of the case, and the extent of evidence collection.
Yet it still refused the home care she sought and confined her to the hospital.
In Korean hospitals, nurses do not handle all personal care.
Medication and daily assistance are often left to family or hired caregivers.
That is why she asked to be cared for at home.
Flight risk for an 83-year-old wheelchair user already hospital-bound for months is low.
Home confinement or electronic monitoring would address it.
Hospital-only confinement and the denial of home care go further.
Normal bail means living at home while standing trial.
They confined her to the hospital instead.
They invoked her health, yet denied the care she said she needed. Is it because her home is also a church facility?
If so, this is not simply bail for an individual.
It comes closer to managing a religious leader’s private life to control the organization itself.
Worldwide, it is rare to release someone on health grounds while forbidding them to go home.
Was this necessary for an 83-year-old?
🚨Breaking: Dr. Hak Ja Han Granted Bail
According to records on the Supreme Court of Korea’s case progress system, the High Court granted bail for Dr. Hak Ja Han on October 19, 2026.
Dr. Hak Ja Han, currently 83 years old, attended the appellate bail hearing on October 13 in a wheelchair and hospital gown.
She has been reported to suffer from multiple serious health issues, including heart conditions (arrhythmia and a history of heart surgery), eye problems (at the level of legal blindness), shoulder surgery following falls while in detention, and a recent weight loss of approximately 9 kg (about 20 lbs).
During the hearing, she stated that she cannot take her medication alone and can no longer clearly see letters even up close.
The decision appears to take into account her advanced age and deteriorating health.

Calls for Humanitarian Consideration for South Korea’s Elderly Religious Leader, Dr. Hak Ja Han
Health Deterioration Leads to 9kg Weight Loss
Concerns are growing over the health of Dr. Hak Ja Han, leader of the Family Federation (Unification Church), during her appeal trial.
She has been detained for nearly a year since September 2025 and is now in a condition requiring hospitalization. Attention is focused on whether she will be granted bail.
At 83 years old and a mother of 14 children, she suffers from multiple underlying conditions, including heart disease, joint and eye disorders, and surgery following a fall.
An AsiaToday editorial described her as a “walking hospital,” and she has recently lost 9kg.
A defendant’s right to protect their own life and health is a fundamental right that cannot be denied in any criminal proceeding.
This raises the question of whether the court is truly a place that upholds such basic rights.
Moreover, the relevant evidence has already been sufficiently collected and submitted during the investigation and first-instance trial. As an elderly religious leader, the realistic possibility of her destroying evidence or fleeing is extremely low.
Unrestrained trials are a fundamental principle of justice to uphold the presumption of innocence and the right to defense.
For an elderly leader who has devoted her life to peace, strong calls are being made for humanitarian consideration and a fair hearing in the appeal trial.

BREAKING NEWS: I am pleased to announce that the United States of America has entered into an Agreement with The Kingdom of Denmark, and Greenland, that gives the United States permanent control over security, and all other needs, in Greenland, completely addressing ALL of our many U.S. concerns. There will be NO COST to the United States! At my direction, we worked with representatives of Denmark and Greenland to guarantee that the United States will FOREVER have the complete ability to do what is necessary in Greenland in order to secure and defend the security of Greenland, and the United States of America. Additionally, from now on, no U.S. adversary can EVER have a base in Greenland, have a military presence in Greenland, or make sensitive investments in Greenland, without our express written approval. For over 100 years, Presidents have known the strategic importance of Greenland, but NONE of them were able to do anything about it. I am proud to be the President that permanently and conclusively addressed this very important situation. This is an “Infinite Life” Agreement, there is no end! We are very honored and proud of what has just taken place, and everything agreed to today will be cherished by the American People. We will immediately begin the process of developing a large Military presence in the appropriate part of Greenland, of which there are many. We will work with the people of Greenland in its development and construction. This solution is a great one for the United States of America, Denmark, Greenland, and all of our Allies. We look forward to working with the wonderful people of Denmark and Greenland toward a magnificent future with respect to this large, and highly strategic, parcel of land. We will be very protective of it! This is a dream come true for the United States of America, one that is very important, historic, and special. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Tomorrow is the final hearing of the appellate trial for Pastor Son Hyun-bo of Segero Church in South Korea.
A sermon he delivered from his own pulpit has been treated as “illegal election campaigning” through a distorted interpretation of the law’s intent, and the prosecution is now pushing for an even harsher sentence.
The outcome of this case is not merely about one pastor — it is a critical turning point that will determine the future of religious freedom and freedom of expression in South Korea.
In a country that calls itself a democracy, it is troubling that a pastor’s sermon from the pulpit is being treated as a crime.
Let us pray together and watch closely.

The YouTube channel NoBorder took on the deconversion business.
A host said this about Toru Goto, held 12 years and 5 months.
"The court found he stayed of his own will."
The final judgment says otherwise.
On November 13, 2014, the Tokyo High Court ruled the confinement illegal.
Damages were ordered against the family, a deconversion activist, and a Christian pastor.
The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal in 2015.
- A parent's fear grows
- Deconversion operators turn it into millions of yen
- Persuaders face charges if they act, so the family does it
- Police call it a family matter and stay out
A parent's love becomes the delivery mechanism.
That is what those 12 years were.
