We damage the dignity of others when we refuse to wait for them – whether they need to tie their own shoes or they are struggling to find words for the indescribable. We bestow honor on another when we consider him or her worth waiting for.
It is outrageous that many churches have a difficult time with the idea that adults can be abused. There’s an idea that if you are an adult, then a pastor can’t abuse you. Do we not understand the power that comes with the position of being a pastor? If not, we are deceived.
Corruption in the church is the most serious threat to our country today.
It’s a bold claim. Yet if we believe Jesus is the hope of the world, and the church is his means of rescuing it, then what threatens the church, threatens our country. What astonishes me, though, is how few Christian leaders are even addressing this threat.
At THE ROYS REPORT, we are committed to exposing the rampant corruption in the church, so it can be confronted and remedied. But we need your help to do that.
On #GivingTuesday, would you please help us reach our goal, so we can continue our mission?

When you enter a life in crisis, you will not help if you swoop in, tell people what to do and take over. You need to leave your comfort and convenience & enter in, in small doses so you can truly listen and understand & be touched by their infirmities. It is about them, not you.
Never demean the occurrences of ordinary human life or see them as interferences in some “big work”. It is in just those ordinary places, far more than the public, lifted up places, that the life of Christ is to be made manifest.
We have to move away from using the widespread use of the word “inappropriate” when discussing matters of sexual abuse - it’s a horrible habit.
Talking during a movie is “inappropriate”conduct; sexual abuse is criminal conduct.
There's purpose in every season — even seasons of darkness. But we must choose... will we see dark times as a womb or a tomb? Is it a birth of something new or the death of what we thought should be? Will we fix our eyes on God's goodness or give in to hopelessness and despair?
The scapegoat is often the empath or highly sensitive person who has the ability to vulnerably express an authentic hunger for change. This is often the most unwelcomed temperament in a toxic system, familial or other.
Instead of measuring a church by its attendance & budget…
Let’s assess it by the quality of community that disciples people to love well; a culture that equips individuals to have a 1st hand life w/God & a commitment to work for healing in all areas of life in the way of Jesus.
Comforters are not explainers. They cannot answer the questions that always arise, nor do they try to. You do not know the purpose or the why. To try to answer such things makes you kin to Job’s comforters in the Bible, who were no comforters at all.
Depression is a symptom of life in survival mode. We treat depression like there’s something wrong with the person. When it’s actually a natural response to an unhealthy environment.
The body of Christ is called to be a sacred place for the vulnerable. We have often chosen to be a safe place for the powerful and have deceived ourselves into believing that God would call that good.
Many times, we ignore marriages saturated with sin and deceit without truth or care because we value the external appearance of marriage over the holiness of God lived out in hidden places.
Suffering can soften us if we will let it. Ridding us of our own places of hardness and bitterness. Making us more empathetic to remember grace and truth hold hands. Helping us respond graciously to others. And making us more eager to forgive those who are still hard and bitter.
We get good at what we practice. The more we practice something, the more we’re able to do it without conscious thinking. We can do it while thinking of other things. That works great for tying shoes. It’s terrifying when it comes to deceiving ourselves and others.
We become a hindrance rather than a help when we greet those who suffer with statements such as: “If you would only... pray more, read Scripture more, believe more, stop thinking about yourself, put the past behind you.” This puts heavy burdens on already bowed backs.
@lucyrechsteiner OK so growing up my church never had Christmas Eve service but always had Christmas morning service, No matter what day it fell on. This last part you are going to love. At the end of the service anyone there was invited to come up & sing the Hallelujah Chorus with the choir
I’m starting to think the defining characteristic of a Christian today is how one handles power. We all have some power (family, work, online). Do we steward it in service and care for others or abusively for personal gain? What say you?
