@tcballard Looks like henrik’s repo can’t help me (yet) as writing to ram on A12X is still uncharted territory.
I’m doing usb experiments praying I don’t fry my iPad hahahha
Today in Omarchy (22-Oct-2026)
My iPad mini 4 finally has a live Linux root shell. Both A8 cores online. After evenings of DFU retries, that is a considerably better result than another opportunity to practise pressing buttons.
🐧 My iPad finally boots Linux
This is native ARM64 Linux running on the actual iPad. Getting commands to execute on the hardware is the milestone I’ve been working towards, and it gives the next stage something real to build on.
Huge thanks to @henrikklee for sharing guidance from his iPad 6 work. Having someone else’s experience to work from makes a difference when the alternative is another evening wondering which part of the boot chain you’ve annoyed.
The qualification matters: this is hardware bring-up. A working Omarchy desktop is still ahead. The public iOMARCHY README also still describes the earlier, untested state, so today’s announcement is my hardware report, not a ready-to-install image.
💬 Ask your agent from oma-cast
@typecraft_dev merged my contribution last night. Type a question in oma-cast’s root search, choose “Ask default agent”, or press Ctrl+Alt+Enter, and it opens a new session in your configured agent and terminal.
It uses Omarchy’s existing launcher, including account and terminal preferences. Normal search and Enter behaviour stay as they were.
If setup is missing, the question stays visible instead of disappearing into a failed hand-off. Closing the launcher cancels a pending request.
The PR records testing on my XPS, plus 74 passing automated tests and one existing Omarchy-dependent skip. This is merged into oma-cast’s main branch, rather than a new stable Omarchy release.
📺 OmarchyTV reaches beta
@MarcoPorro has released an Omarchy-style Android TV launcher, based on @gathint’s tv-vibehack. The companion PC plugin supports theme sharing and desktop streaming to the TV.
Android remains underneath. This is an unofficial launcher project, with workspaces, a Waybar-style bar and a terminal-style screensaver.
And today’s update includes my Liftoff Sunset wallpaper as the default for Tokyo Night. Apparently the wallpaper has made it onto a TV before I’ve got an Omarchy desktop onto the iPad 😂
The test table is worth reading: an older 2.9 build works on Marco’s Sony, while 2.10.1-beta is marked as awaiting a real-TV test. Don’t mistake the beta announcement for broad hardware validation.
💻 Easier trials on Mac and Windows
Try Omarchy for Mac 1.2.0 adds a native launcher, browser back/forward swipes and better Korean, Chinese and Japanese input switching. Replacing the app keeps the existing VM and its files.
Windows 0.12.1 fixes setup and update failures on networks such as Fritz!Box, where automatic proxy detection finds a server but no proxy script.
These are released updates to the trial apps. Small obstacles, but fairly decisive ones when someone is trying Omarchy for the first time.p
@vrundasays_ Chess community figured out how to get better games between humans by having vastly superior machines as sparing partners.
How do we do that with math & physics?
I am starting to tinker with some ideas, but it’s still everyone’s guess, lmk if you have thoughts on it :D
@SourceParts Awesome!
I have zero experience with this and am frankly happy that all 3 cameras show up in Arch on Nothing(1), ran ghidra against OEM camera binaries to get some nice color profiles but it’s still bad performance and blurry hahaha
Bidirectional airdrop with nothing (1) now works reliably if I temporarily drop connection to Wifi whilst moving files.
@getpeid someone with deeper knowledge of/access to the modem firmware can probably tell me what rookie mistake is crashing my modem ^^
@tcballard@w_mir01 Bootloader was free on my nothing(1)
Once the toys arrive in the mail, I’ll join the good fight on my iPad Pro, best of luck from Germany ^^
