Autistic people will be like:
“I don’t have any special interests, but anyway, I’ve got to go. I need to start building another car out of Lego to add to my collection, and afterwards, I want to watch Lord of the Rings for the 50th time, and then research Greek Mythology”.
It's exhausting being smart and also having ADHD.
It's like a constant internal battle — curiosity & introspection vs. executive dysfunction
I would be able to learn and do so much more if I weren't my own worst enemy.
What I’m learning from Barbie and the Taylor Swift tour is that women want to get dressed up and go places and have fun and men are invited but if they’re going to be a drag they can stay home, and that makes some men VERY angry.
Normalizing yourself to please others is a recipe for frustration. There's so much joy in pursuing your weird interests and realizing that people love you precisely because of your weirdness.
ADHDers often feel like we “should” be able to do something because ✨ weve done it before ✨ or that our difficulty with focus/productivity isn’t a real disability b/c sometimes we can do it just fine.
GUYS. LADIES. GENTLETHEMS.
THAT IS THE DISABILITY.
The INCONSISTENCY.
