@jeenxy5@YsabelDanvers why is there only one type of love? she might love mari, but not romantically, or maybe not in the way she thinks true love feels like
It would destroy the entire message of the anime if it simply had her find ‘true love’, save the merfolk, and then live happily ever after with that true love. why didn’t people see that from the very first few episodes. Ppl sound like Rowan now
People will watch a show spend 10+ episodes deconstructing how chasing a narrow, idealized version of "true love" hurts the MC, and then turn around and complain that the ending didn't give them that exact fantasy
many of you would be far happier if you just admitted to urself you were only invested in lara as a character because of her potential to be in a romantic relationship with mari Rather than any of her own goals or aspirations
@Iove4eva ?? we never got the confirmation mari is lara's true love though. they explicitly say they've not found true love, she just wants to live in a world where she still exists
The fact that I never had this. I literally read all kinds of "problematic" stuff since I was 13 and I found it curious cause even at 13 I could make a difference between what's real and what's not.
Literacy is dead. People are more concerned with virtue signalling and digging into things for obscure issues to demonise than actually exploring unfamiliar, uncomfortable themes for what they are, an expression of the human experience, however fucked up it can be at times.
Watching horror doesn't make you a slasher serial killer chasing people with a chainsaw.
The same way reading incest won't have you fuck your siblings. Grow the fuck up and use your brain for once instead of swallowing down whatever is trendy to hate and shit on this week.
