Hazardous Weather Update 10.1.25: Expect gusty winds today across central and eastern parts of the state, with the coast seeing the most significant gusts. Dangerous swells and rip currents will remain up and down the coast this week so stay out of the water! #ReadyNC

The National Hurricane Center said at 5 a.m. that Tropical Storm Humberto is expected to strengthen in the coming days. Right now, maximum sustained winds are 45 mph and the storm is about 1,500 miles from the NC coast.
