There is a reason this is one of the most talked about topics in the Bible. Both Jesus and his apostles debated this idea regularly.

Jesus lived the model—nomadic, unencumbered: “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head” (Matthew 8:20).

He warned: “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?” (Mark 8:36).

The rich fool parable (Luke 12:16-21) is the archetype: he builds bigger barns for more stuff, then dies that night—“You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?”

Core command: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth… But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:19-21). You cannot serve both God and money (v. 24).

Paul drives it home: “Godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Timothy 6:6). The love of more is a root of evil that pierces with many griefs (v. 10).

Tanner Horner pleaded guilty to kidnapping and murdering Strand after dropping Barbie dolls off at her house in his FedEx truck.

Horner led police on a wild goose chase while continuously lying to them about the location of Strand's body in new court footage.

The jury will decide if Horner will receive the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
