Tens of thousands of people are celebrating Somalia’s Independence Day in the capital, Mogadishu, with the participation of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. Before 2022, such a celebration would have been almost unimaginable.
The 1 July celebrations commemorate the independence of the country’s southern regions from Italy in 1960 and the union of the South and the North, which marked the birth of Somalia as a sovereign and independent state. The celebrations are taking place in Mogadishu.
Saying “there is no government in Somalia” by Presient Trump is false. Somalia is a sovereign UN member & right now holds the UN Security Council presidency. The U.S. recognises this through its embassy and security partnership. Is this ignorance or intent?
@VoiceofHorn The claim that Hamas leaders were moved to the Turkish base in Mogadishu is a BIG FAT LIE. Somalia is NOT a playground for foreign propaganda. The Turkish presence is official & transparent. stop dragging our nation into your fake news wars.
Former Mayor of Mogadishu.

I had the privilege to attend the conference that launched the African Union (Sirte Declaration) in Libya on the 9.9.1999.
What a journey since then in the process of building our unity on the continent . Long live to Africa
@faisalroble19 When leaders or military commanders lie, it’s either due to ignorance of the situation or a deliberate attempt to deceive the people. So, which is it?
